  1. 1. Tripeptidyl-Peptidase II : Structure, Function and Gene Regulation

    Författare :Ann-Christin Lindås; Birgitta Tomkinson; Mikael Widersten; Ralf Morgenstern; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Biochemistry; gene regulation; protein expression; enzyme kinetics; tripeptidyl-peptidase II; proteasome; intracellular protein degradation; exopeptidase; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : The protein degradation process is of vital importance for the cell to maintain cellular functions. An important enzyme in this process is the multimeric tripeptidyl-peptidase II (TPP II). It removes tripeptides from a free N-terminus of the substrates. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Interpreting a Giant : Studies of Structure and Function of Tripeptidyl-peptidase II

    Författare :Sandra Eklund; Birgitta Tomkinson; Beate Rockel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tripeptidyl-peptidas II; molecular ruler; sequence signatures; pH-dependence; endopeptidase; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Tripeptidyl-peptidase II (TPP II) is a subtilisin-like serine peptidase that forms a gigantic homooligomeric complex, and is involved in the degradation of peptides in the cytosol. In addition, TPP II has been implicated in specific cellular processes, such as apoptosis control and adipogenesis, but if this is dependent on its endo- or exopeptidase activity remains to be determined. 5. 5. Role of Tripeptidyl peptidase II in cell cycle regulation and tumor progression

    Författare :Vaia Stavropoulou; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Apoptosis; Burkitt s lymphoma; cell cycle; centrosome; genetic instability; Golgi; mitosis; tripeptidyl-peptidase II;

    Sammanfattning : Protein degradation is essential for many cellular functions and the ubiquitin-proteasome system controls the turnover of most cellular proteins and plays a pivotal role in the regulation of basic physiological processes and in the pathogenesis of many diseases. Alterations in the metabolism of proteins involved in the regulation of cell cycle and apoptosis may result in uncontrolled cell division, which em lead to malignant transformation and tumor development One melt example is the Burkitt's lymphoma (BL), a highly malignant B-cell tumor characterized by chromosomal translocations that constitutively activate the c-myc oncogene.
