  1. 1. On Quality in Radiotherapy Treatment Plan Optimisation

    Författare :Hunor Benedek; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Pareto optimisation; Pareto fronts; Dose prediction; Machine learning; Deliverable treatment plans; Volumetric modulated arc therapy; IMRT; patient-specific plan quality; plan quality; Multi Criteria Optimisation; Automated Treatment Planning;

    Sammanfattning : Radiotherapy is one of the essential treatments used in the fight against cancer. The goal of radiotherapy is to deliver a high dose of ionising radiation to the tumour volume and at the same time minimise the effect on healthy tissue by reducing the radiation to critical organs. 2. 2. Microsieving in municipal wastewater treatment : Chemically enhanced primary and tertiary treatment

    Författare :Janne Väänänen; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Nyckelord :coagulation; wastewater treatment; flocculation; microsieving; control; primary treatment; tertiary treatment; coagulation; control; flocculation; microsieving; municipal wastewater treatment; primary treatment; tertiary treatment;

    Sammanfattning : Municipal wastewater treatment plants are constantly forced to make improvements. The main objectives are to reduce energy consumption, to increase the treatment capacity and to improve the effluent water quality. Microsieves in combination with chemical pretreatment can potentially fulfil these objectives. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Warfarin treatment quality in stroke prevention

    Författare :Fredrik Björck; Anders Själander; Peter Svensson; Per Wester; Christine Kremer; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anticoagulation; atrial fibrillation; complications; international normalized ratio INR variability; persistence; stroke; time in therapeutic range TTR ; treatment quality; warfarin; cardiovascular disease; hjärt- och kärlforskning;

    Sammanfattning : BackgroundIschemic stroke is a serious condition often associated to presence of atrial fibrillation (AF). Use of anticoagulants for AF patients greatly reduces the risk of stroke. Warfarin is the most commonly used anticoagulant in Sweden. The aim of this thesis was to study the impact of warfarin treatment quality in Swedish stroke prevention. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Adherence to drug treatment and interpretation of treatment effects

    Författare :Erik Berglund; Per Lytsy; Ragnar Westerling; Tove Hedenrud; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medication adherence; Health-seeking behaviour; Chronic treatment; Cardiovascular treatments; Anticoagulants therapeutic use; Treatment outcome; Effect measure; Quality of care; Medical decision-making; Necessity-concern framework; Choice behaviour; Risk communication; Risk perception; Health communication; Social Medicine; Socialmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Suboptimal adherence to medical treatments is prevalent across several clinical conditions and can lead to treatment failure. Adherence is a far from fully explored phenomenon and there is little knowledge about how patients interpret treatment effects. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Towards application of activated carbon treatment for pharmaceutical removal in municipal wastewater

    Författare :Victor Kårelid; Gen Larsson; Gunno Renman; Ola Svahn; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; advanced wastewater treatment; granular activated carbon; powdered activated carbon; municipal wastewater treatment; pharmaceutical removal; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Sammanfattning : Many pharmaceuticals are found in municipal wastewater effluents due to their persistence in the human body as well as in conventional wastewater treatment processes. This discharge to the environment can lead to adverse effects in aquatic species, such as feminization of male fish. LÄS MER
