    Författare :Hannah K. Eriksson; Stergios Lazarinis; Theofilos Karachalios; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Periprosthetic joint infection; PJI; Total hip arthroplasty; THA; Total knee arthroplasty; TKA; Total joint arthroplasty; TJA; Debridement antibiotics and implant retention; DAIR; Staphylococcus spp.; Coagulase-negative Staphylococci; Staphylococcus aureus;

    Sammanfattning : Prosthetic joint infection (PJI) is a serious complication that may occur after total joint arthroplasty (TJA). In addition, PJI has a devastating impact on the patient's quality of life. Therefore, it is imperative to increase our knowledge of PJI prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Verification of Dose Calculation Algorithms in Treatment Planning Systems for External Radiation Therapy: A Monte Carlo Approach

    Författare :Elinore Wieslander; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; radiotherapy; dose calculation algorithm; verification; Monte Carlo calculation; electron beam; photon beam; Clinical physics; radiology; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; treatment planning system;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a new verification concept, the virtual accelerator, for dose calculation algorithms used in treatment planning systems (TPSs) for external beam radiotherapy. The algorithm input data required to implement a treatment unit in the TPS are generated by Monte Carlo simulations as are the beam reference data needed for the subsequent evaluation of the dose calculation algorithm. Sammanfattning : Carcinoma of the cervix is a global problem. Brachytherapy (BT) is one of the mainradiation therapy components used in the management of cervical cancer. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Development of a Whole Body Atlas for Radiation Therapy Planning and Treatment Optimization

    Författare :Sharif Qatarneh; Anders Brahme; Bengt Lind; Anders Ahnesjö; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :3D whole body atlas; lymph node topography; matching transformation; radiation therapy planning; radiobiological optimization; segmentation; target volume definition; medicinsk strålningsfysik; Medical Radiation Physics;

    Sammanfattning : The main objective of radiation therapy is to obtain the highest possible probability of tumor cure while minimizing adverse reactions in healthy tissues. A crucial step in the treatment process is to determine the location and extent of the primary tumor and its loco regional lymphatic spread in relation to adjacent radiosensitive anatomical structures and organs at risk.
