  1. 1. MRI in prostate cancer : implications for target volume

    Författare :Ulrika Björeland; Camilla Thellenberg-Karlsson; Tufve Nyholm; Joakim Jonsson; Lars Beckman; Taran Paulsen Hellebust; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MRI; imaging; prostate; radiotherapy; target detection; radiofysik; radiation physics;

    Sammanfattning : Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most common cancer among men, with 10 000 new cases per year in Sweden [1]. To diagnose PCa, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is used to identify and classify the disease. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Surgically Treated Intracerebral Haemorrhage : Pathophysiology and Clinical Aspects

    Författare :Lovisa Tobieson; Niklas Marklund; Bijar Ghafouri; Sandro Rossitti; Peter Zsigmond; Jan Hillman; Mikael Svensson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Mortality and morbidity of intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH) is excessively high, and the case fatality rate has not improved in the last decades. Although surgery for ICH can be life-saving, no positive effect on functional outcome has been found in large cohorts of ICH patients. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Minimal volume ventilation in lung injury : With special reference to apnea and buffer treatment

    Författare :Staffan Höstman; Anders Larsson; Hans Hjelmqvist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; VILI; THAM; buffers; apneic oxygenation; respiratory acidosis; hypercapnia; low volume ventilation; mechanical ventilation; ultra-protective ventilation; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care;

    Sammanfattning : A fairly large portion of patients receiving surgical or intensive care will need mechanical ventilation at some point. The potential ventilator-induced lung injury (VILI) is thus of interest. One of the main causal factors in VILI is the cyclic energy shifts, i.e. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Impact of disease and treatment on body weight and eating in patients with head and neck cancer : experiences from a multicenter study

    Författare :Sandra Ottosson; Göran Laurell; Cecilia Olsson; Björn Zackrisson; Elisabeth Kjellén; Antti Mäkitie; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Head and neck cancer; weight loss; body mass index; tube feeding; radiation therapy; survival; treated volume; swallowing dysfunction; patient experience.; oto-rhino-laryngologi; Oto-Rhino-Laryngology;

    Sammanfattning : Background Nutritional deterioration in patients with head and neck cancer (HNC) has a multifactorial etiology mainly associated with tumor and treatment related factors. The objective of the present thesis was to investigate the impact of the disease and treatment on body weight and eating in patients with HNC treated with radiation therapy (RT) as the single modality treatment or as preoperative RT by analyzing body weight and body mass index (BMI) over time, predictive factors for weight loss and BMI, weight loss and BMI as prognostic factors for survival, and by studying the patients’ own experience of food and eating. 5. 5. Cariological Studies on Endodontically Treated Teeth

    Författare :Khalid Merdad; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Caries risk; Caries susceptibility; Cariogram; Endodontic treatment; Jönköping; Sweden; Micro-CT; Recurrent caries; Saudi Arabia;

    Sammanfattning : Caries might jeopardize the long-term successful outcome of endodontic therapy. Therefore, it is of an interest for the endodontist to evaluate caries susceptibility of root-filled teeth (RFT). In the present thesis, several studies were conducted to explore this relationship.
