  1. 11. Autonomic nervous system regulation in chronic neck-shoulder pain : Relations to physical activity and perceived stress

    Författare :David Hallman; Eugene Lyskov; Bengt Arnetz; Ewa Wigaeus Tornqvist; Allan Toomingas; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Autonomic imbalance; Daily physical activity; Trapezius myalgia; Treatment; Parasympathetic; Sympathetic;

    Sammanfattning : Neck-shoulder pain (NSP) is a highly prevalent musculoskeletal disorder with unclear causes, and effective prevention and treatment require a further understanding of the underlying mechanisms. Aberrant autonomic nervous system (ANS) regulation is a hypothesized causal element in the development and maintenance of chronic muscle pain. LÄS MER

  2. 12. The impact of visually demanding near work on neck/shoulder discomfort and trapezius muscle activity : Laboratory studies

    Författare :Camilla Zetterberg; Hans O Richter; Mikael Forsman; Malin Josephson; Hanne Mari Schiøtz Thorud; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Accommodation; Asthenopia; Computer work; Eye-neck head stabilization; Muscle activity; Neck pain; Visual Attention; Visual demand; Visual ergonomics; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Musculoskeletal discomfort in the neck and shoulders is common among workers performing visually demanding near work, e.g., on a computer screen, and sustained low-level muscle activity during such work can lead to work-related pain. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Effects of low-load repetitive work and mental load on sensitising substances and metabolism in the trapezius muscle

    Författare :Gerd Flodgren; Gisela Sjøgaard; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :work-related muscle pain; microdialysis; near-infrared spectroscopy; electromyography; glutamate; lactate; pyruvate; prostaglandin E2; norepinephrine; Occupational and Environmental Medicine; arbets- och miljömedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Low-load repetitive work (LLRW) and mental load are important risk factors for the development of workrelated muscle pain. The link between these risk factors and the development of pain is still not understood, but stimulation of chemo-sensitive receptors in the muscle probably plays an important role. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Masseter muscle pain and its relation to pain mediators in fibromyalgia and local myalgia

    Författare :Britt Hedenberg-Magnusson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Fibromyalgia; glucocorticoid; intramuscular temperature; isometric contraction; leukotriene B4; masseter muscle; microdialysis; myalgia; neuropeptide Y; pressure pain threshold; pressure pain tolerance level; prostaglandin E2; trapezius muscle; temporomandibular disorders; questionnaire; visual analogue pain scale.;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this investigation was to study chronic jaw muscle pain in fibromyalgia, local myalgia and healthy individuals in relation to the pain mediators PGE2, LTB4 and NPY and to study the effects of glucocorticoid administration and repetitive isometric contraction. A questionnaire showed presence of symptoms from the temporomandibular region in almost all fibromyalgia patients and the local pain was correlated to the general pain but on a lower level. LÄS MER
