  1. 16. Characterization of the structure and function of the Pho84 high-affinity phosphate transporter of Saccharomyces cerevisiae

    Författare :Ulrika Fristedt; Gerard Leblanc; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : All living organisms, from bacteria and yeast to mammalian cells, must respond to a fluctuating extracellular environment. Information contained in such fluctuations is signaled via the cell surface to the interior of the cell, resulting in responses such as altered gene expression and protein activity. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Structural modeling of membrane transporter proteins

    Författare :Jonas Almqvist; Sven Hovmöller; David van der Spoel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; membrane protein structure; membrane protein crystallography; membrane protein structure modelling; Structural biochemistry; Strukturbiokemi; strukturkemi; Structural Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : A fundamental process of all living organisms - the transport of molecules across cellular membranes through membrane transport proteins - is investigated.After a brief review of general properties of biological membranes follows a recollection of the major methods of membrane transport that Nature utilizes (Chapter 1). 3. 18. In vitro and in silico Predictions of Hepatic Transporter-Mediated Drug Clearance and Drug-Drug Interactions in vivo

    Författare :Anna Vildhede; Per Artursson; Maria Karlgren; Maria Kjellsson; Ulf Norinder; Kim Brouwer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; OATP1B1; OATP1B3; OATP2B1; NTCP; drug transporters; human hepatocytes; atorvastatin; pitavastatin; proteomics; sandwich-cultured human hepatocytes; SCHH; mechanistic modeling; in vitro-in vivo extrapolation; transport inhibition; hepatic uptake; hepatocyte isolation; transporter contribution; Biopharmaceutics; Biofarmaci;

    Sammanfattning : The liver is the major detoxifying organ, clearing the blood from drugs and other xenobiotics. The extent of hepatic clearance (CL) determines drug exposure and hence, the efficacy and toxicity associated with exposure. Drug-drug interactions (DDIs) that alter the hepatic CL may cause more or less severe outcomes, such as adverse drug reactions. LÄS MER

  4. 19. In vitro and in silico prediction of drug-drug interactions with transport proteins

    Författare :Gustav Ahlin; Per Artursson; Christel Bergström; Johan Karlsson; Jörg König; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Solute carrier; SLC transporter; OCT1; Organic cation transporter 1; SLC22A1; OATP1B1; SLCO1B1; Organic anion transporting peptide 1B1; Drug transport; Active transport; Genetic polymorphism; Cell lines; Gene expression; Multivariate data analysis; OPLS; Pharmaceutics; Galenisk farmaci; Biopharmacy; Biofarmaci; galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics; Biopharmaceutics; biofarmaci;

    Sammanfattning : Drug transport across cells and cell membranes in the human body is crucial for the pharmacological effect of drugs. Active transport governed by transport proteins plays an important role in this process. A vast number of transport proteins with a wide tissue distribution have been identified during the last 15 years. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Impacts of Traffic Signal Control Strategies

    Författare :Azhar Al-Mudhaffar; Karl-Lennart Bång; Nagui M. Rouphail; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Driver behavior; Dilemma zone; Incident reduction; Signal control; Lhovra; Spot; Pribuss; Bus priority; Field measurement; Simulation; Calibration; Traffic performance; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : Traffic signals are very cost effective tools for urban traffic management in urban areas. The number of intersections in Sweden controlled by traffic signals has increased since the seventies, but efforts to study the traffic performance of the employed strategies are still lacking.
