1. Transport-Layer Performance in Wireless Multi-Hop Networks
Sammanfattning : Wireless communication has seen a tremendous growth in the last decades. Continuing on this trend, wireless multi-hop networks are nowadays used or planned for use in a multitude of contexts, spanning from Internet access at home to emergency situations. LÄS MER
2. Simulations of Coastal Atmospheric Dynamics and Transport Processes
Sammanfattning : The marine atmosphere can be highly variable in space and time, and the coastal terrain plays a crucial role in influencing its properties. These, in turn, determine the atmospheric transport in the coastal zone. LÄS MER
3. Electronic Transport in Materials
Sammanfattning : Transport properties within the Boltzmann transport equation for metallic multi-layer structures as well as bulk materials, were the prime topic of this work. Ab initio total energy calculations for Hydrogen loaded metallic multi-layers were performed in order to shed some light onto problem of H depleted layers at the interfaces that have been experimentally observed. 4. Improving Performance in Heterogeneous Networks: A Transport Layer Centered Approach
Sammanfattning : The evolution of computer communications and the Internet has led to the emergence of a large number of communication technologies with widely different capabilities and characteristics. While this multitude of technologies provides a wide array of possibilities it also creates a complex and heterogeneous environment for higher-layer communication protocols. LÄS MER
5. Optical spectroscopy of InGaAs quantum dots
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis deals with optical studies of semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) in the InGaAs material system. It is shown that for self-assembled InAs QDs, the interaction with the surrounding GaAs barrier and the InAs wetting layer (WL) in particular, has a very large impact on their optical properties.
