16. Solute transport in the integrated soil-groundwater system
Sammanfattning : A Lagrangian stochastic travel time approach has been usedfor investigating dominant process impacts on (non-reactive andreactive) solute transport in the integrated soil-groundwatersystem. A first step has also been taken to extending thisLagrangian stochastic travel time approach to integrate thesoil-groundwater-stream transport through a catchment. LÄS MER
17. Metabolic engineering and random mutagenesis for improved xylose utilisation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Sammanfattning : In this thesis I have summarised my work on the analysis and improvement of xylose utilisation by recombinant S. cerevisiae. A metabolic flux model was developed and used to analyse the intracellular fluxes in the recombinant xylose utilising S. cerevisiae TMB 3001 cultivated in chemostat at various dilution rates and xylose/glucose concentrations. 18. Chemistry and Process Design of Integrated Removal of Nitrogen and Sulfur oxides in Pressurized Flue Gas Systems
Sammanfattning : Carbon capture and storage is vital to reach the climate goals to limit the increase in the global temperature. Among the carbon capture technologies, oxy-fuel and chemical looping combustion produce a stream mainly containing carbon dioxide (CO2) and water but also contaminants such as nitrogen oxides (NOx) and sulfur oxides (SOx). 19. Numerical simulation of multi-scale transport processes and reactions in pem fuel cells using two-phase models
Sammanfattning : A numerical study for the cathode of a PEM fuel cell has been performed in this study. The results have been limited to cathode only because, in PEM fuel cells, the oxygen reduction reactions, ORRs, are considered the rate limiting reactions and govern the fuel cell performance. 20. Studies of transport in oxides on Zr-based materials
Sammanfattning : Zr-based materials have found their main application in the nuclear field having high corrosion resistance and low neutron absorption cross-section. The oxide layer that is formed on the surface of these alloys is meant to be the barrier between the metal and the corrosive environment. LÄS MER
