1. Spark plasma sintered ZrO2-SiO2 glass ceramics and Si3N4 bioceramics
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on elaboration and characterization of two types of bioceramics: one is ZrO2-SiO2 nanocrystalline glass ceramic (NCGC) for dental application. The goal is to develop new ZrO2-SiO2 NCGCs with a combination of high strength and high translucency; the other is biodegradable Si3N4 ceramics for spinal fusion. LÄS MER
2. Modelling appearance printing : Acquisition and digital reproduction of translucent and goniochromatic materials
Sammanfattning : Colour perception is fundamental to our everyday experiences, allowing us to communicate and interpret visual information effectively. Yet, replicating these experiences accurately poses a significant challenge, particularly in the context of full-colour 3D printing. LÄS MER
3. Women's Experiences of Fetal Screening for Down's Syndrome by Means of an Early Ultrasound Examination
Sammanfattning : The general aim of this thesis was to explore women's reactions to and experiences of fetal screening for Down's syndrome PS) by means of an ultrasound examination, including measurement of fetal nuchal translucency (NT). The effect of this screening on maternal worry about the baby's health was investigated, as well as reactions to a false positive test and interpretation of information about riskAlso, an instrument measuring worry during pregnancy, the Cambridge Worry Scale, was translated into Swedish and tested on a sample of pregnant women. 4. 12-14 week scan with emphasis on risk assessment for fetal structural malformations and fetal loss
Sammanfattning : The aim was to evaluate first trimester nuchal translucency (NT) measurement for detection and risk assessment of fetal malformations and fetal loss. 39 572 pregnant women were randomised to either a routine ultrasound scan at 12-14 weeks including NT measurement or to a routine scan at 18-20 weeks. 5. Prenatal diagnosis in routine antenatal care : a randomised controlled trial
Sammanfattning : Nuchal translucency (NT) measurement combined with maternal age has been shown to identify women at an increased risk of carrying a fetus with Down's syndrome (DS) more accurately than does maternal age alone. The aim of this study was to evaluate more widely the effects of two different strategies for prenatal diagnosis. LÄS MER
