  1. 1. Adaptive Evolution of the Bacterial Translation Machinery

    Författare :Arindam De Tarafder; Suparna Sanyal; Michael Y. Pavlov; Ruben L. Jr. Gonzalez; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ribosome; Translation; Translation machinery; Elongation; Evolution; RNA world; Cold bacteria; Molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Life Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The process of protein synthesis via translation is of paramount importance for the existence of life on Earth. The bacterial translation machinery has embraced more than 3.5 billion years of molecular evolution to adapt and function efficiently under the provided physiological conditions. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Evolutionary Mechanisms Shaping Bacterial Translation Termination

    Författare :Shreya Pundir; Suparna Sanyal; Martin Ott; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ribosome; Protein; Release Factor; Translation; Termination; Stop codon; Evolution; Mutation; Kinetics; Cryo-EM; Molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Life Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Translation termination in bacteria involves precise reading of stop codons (UAA, UAG, UGA) and coordinated peptidyl-tRNA hydrolysis by the class-I release factors (RFs) on the ribosome (70S). This thesis investigates the evolutionary and post-translational modification mechanisms of these RFs and the concurrent effect on bacterial translation termination. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Study on the Function of Translation Initiation Factor IF1

    Författare :Victor Croitoru; Leif A. Isaksson; Kim Kusk Mortensen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :translation; initiation factor IF1; mutagenesis; A-site; RNA chaperone; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : Initiation is the first step in protein biosynthesis representing a fundamental event in cell life which determines fidelity, efficiency and regulation of gene expression. In addition to the ribosome and mRNA, three protein factors IF1, IF2 and IF3 are involved in the initiation of translation in prokaryotes. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Dialektelemente in deutscher und schwedischer Literatur und ihre Übersetzung : von Schelch zu eka, von ilsnedu zu bösartig

    Författare :Gunhild Brembs; Dessislava Stoeva-Holm; Claes Börje Hagervall; Gunther Schunk; Werner Koller; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; dialectal elements; dialectal features; dialectal markers; dialectal competence; author’s intention; means of textual design; communicative function; stylistical conventions; reception; fidelity; equivalence; translation variants; source language; target language; translation theory; German language; Tyska språket;

    Sammanfattning : The present study investigates the translation of dialectal elements in literary texts from the German and Swedish linguistical and cultural areas. Translation theory generally advises against the translation of dialectal elements in standard language texts thereby implicitly questioning their creative and communicative function. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Jeremiah: A Translation and Commentary on Jeremiah in Codex Vaticamus

    Författare :Georg Walser; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Bible; Old Testament; Prophets; Jeremiah; Septuagint; translation; philology; Codex Vaticanus;

    Sammanfattning : This study investigates the Greek text of Jeremiah as found in the famous Vatican manuscript Codex Vaticanus 1209. It is the first major commentary to focus on the text of LXX Jeremiah in any modern language. LÄS MER
