  1. 1. The Subtitling of Discourse Particles. A corpus-based study of well, you know, I mean, and like, and their Swedish translations in ten American films

    Författare :Jenny Mattsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; subtitling; discourse particles; English Swedish; cross-theoretical study; multimodal corpus; American films; different subtitling versions; pragmatic multifunctionality; translatability;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the present study is to investigate the four discourse particles (DPs) well, you know, I mean, and like, and their Swedish subtitle translations. This is done in order to see to what extent it is possible to translate these elusive words and expressions in subtitling, which is a greatly constrained form of translation. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Development and Applications of in vitro Models to Study Human Brain Evolution and Disease

    Författare :Daniela Grassi; Molekylär neurogenetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neural reprogramming; Neural differentiation; Brain development; Huntington s disease; Induced Neuron; Neural Progenitor Cell; Brain evolution;

    Sammanfattning : Neuroscience focusing on human development and disease has long been hampered due to ethical reasons, low tissue availability, and low translatability from animal models. To circumvent these obstacles, we have developed two methods for the investigation of human neural cells in culture. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Stem cells in the adult heart - 3D culture, isolation of side population cells and search for a stem cell niche

    Författare :Kristina Vukusic; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Heart; cardiac stem cells; Stem cell niche; Atrioventricular junction; Side population; 3D culture;

    Sammanfattning : Cardiac tissue shows a poor regenerative capacity. From 2003 reports, mostly based on animal models, have showed existence of stem cells also in the heart. Using 14C measurements, a slow but steady turnover of the cardiac cells was shown in humans, around 1%/year. As a source for this regeneration endogenous stem cells have been suggested. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Human iPSC-derived neuronal networks. Development and application for compound evaluation

    Författare :Julia Izsak; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; human induced pluripotent stem cell; neuronal network; microelectrode array; in vitro;

    Sammanfattning : Research on human brain development and function in health and disease has been hampered by limited access to primary human tissue and limited translatability of animal studies. This knowledge gap is encouraging the use of human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC)-derived neural in vitro models. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Fighting cardiometabolic disease : validation of new experimental models and therapeutic targets

    Författare :Mirko Enea Minniti; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The prevalence of cardiometabolic diseases (CMD) such as atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes mellitus and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), has grown dramatically during the last decades. Hence, massive research efforts are allocated to identify the pathophysiological mechanisms and new therapeutic targets for these morbidities. LÄS MER
