16. Non-target Effects of Genetically Modified Trees
Sammanfattning : To date, few studies have focused on the effects of genetically modified trees (GM trees) on the environment. One concern with GM trees is that they may have unanticipated effects on non-target organisms, i.e. effects on organisms that are not direct targets of the genetically modified trait. LÄS MER
17. The light-harvesting antenna of higher plant photosystem I
Sammanfattning : During photosynthesis, two multi-protein complexes, photosystems (PS) I and II work in tandem to convert the light-energy absorbed by the light-harvesting antennae into chemical energy, which is subsequently used to assimilate atmospheric carbon dioxide into organic carbon compounds. This is the main nutritional basis for life on Earth. LÄS MER
18. Studies towards late blight control in potato
Sammanfattning : Abstract The oomycete Phytophthora infestans, which causes the devastating late blight disease of potato, is notorious for developing resistance to conventional control strategies (fungicide application and resistance breeding by introgression of R gene). To increase our tool box of disease management strategies available to combat P. LÄS MER
19. Conservation of transcription factors in infected cells of nitrogen-fixing root nodules
Sammanfattning : Infected cells of nitrogen-fixing root nodules are the only plant cells that can stably internally accommodate a eubacterial symbiont. In the context of studying the differentiation of infected cells, we set about to analyse the conservation of infected cell-specific transcription factors using altogether four different promoters from genes showing infected cell-specific expression, or nodule-specific expression. 20. Jasmonates in root nodule development
Sammanfattning : Jasmonic acid (JA), its derivatives and its precursor form a group of phytohormones, the jasmonates, representing signal molecules involved in plant stress responses, in the defense against pathogens as well as in development. Elevated levels of JA have been shown to play a role in arbuscular mycorrhiza and in the induction of nitrogen-fixing root nodules. LÄS MER
