  1. 16. Non-target Effects of Genetically Modified Trees

    Författare :Patrik Blomberg; Anders Wennström; Jan Stenlid; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Genetically modified; GM trees; secondary metabolism; phytochemistry; Populus; transgenic; non-target effects; natural enemies; plant-pathogen herbivore interaction; environmental effects; parasitic fungi; herbivorous insect; Terrestrial ecology; Terrestisk ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : To date, few studies have focused on the effects of genetically modified trees (GM trees) on the environment. One concern with GM trees is that they may have unanticipated effects on non-target organisms, i.e. effects on organisms that are not direct targets of the genetically modified trait. LÄS MER

  2. 17. The light-harvesting antenna of higher plant photosystem I

    Författare :Ulrika Ganeteg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plant physiology; antisense; Arabidopsis thaliana; chlorophyll; fitness; LHC; photosynthesis; Växtfysiologi; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : During photosynthesis, two multi-protein complexes, photosystems (PS) I and II work in tandem to convert the light-energy absorbed by the light-harvesting antennae into chemical energy, which is subsequently used to assimilate atmospheric carbon dioxide into organic carbon compounds. This is the main nutritional basis for life on Earth. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Studies towards late blight control in potato

    Författare :Laith Moushib; Molekylär cellbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Oomycetes; plant induced resistance; sustainable agriculture; plant defence activators; plant innate immunity; potato; late blight;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract The oomycete Phytophthora infestans, which causes the devastating late blight disease of potato, is notorious for developing resistance to conventional control strategies (fungicide application and resistance breeding by introgression of R gene). To increase our tool box of disease management strategies available to combat P. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Conservation of transcription factors in infected cells of nitrogen-fixing root nodules

    Författare :Behnoosh Rashidi; Katharina Pawlowski; Karsten Niehaus; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; root nodules; actinorhiza; legumes; infection thread; Frankia; subtilase; leghemoglobin; chitinase; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi; Plant Physiology; växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Infected cells of nitrogen-fixing root nodules are the only plant cells that can stably internally accommodate a eubacterial symbiont. In the context of studying the differentiation of infected cells, we set about to analyse the conservation of infected cell-specific transcription factors using altogether four different promoters from genes showing infected cell-specific expression, or nodule-specific expression. 5. 20. Jasmonates in root nodule development

    Författare :Anna Maria Zdyb; Katharina Pawlowski; Sofie Goormachtig; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lotus japonicus; jasmonic acid; actinorhizal; rhizobia; Frankia; root nodule; lipoxygenase; allene oxide cyclase; allene oxide synthase; Casuarina; Datisca; Medicago; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi; växtfysiologi; Plant Physiology;

    Sammanfattning : Jasmonic acid (JA), its derivatives and its precursor form a group of phytohormones, the jasmonates, representing signal molecules involved in plant stress responses, in the defense against pathogens as well as in development. Elevated levels of JA have been shown to play a role in arbuscular mycorrhiza and in the induction of nitrogen-fixing root nodules. LÄS MER
