1. Whiteness and Fluorescence in Layered Paper and Board : Perception and Optical Modelling
Sammanfattning : This thesis is about modelling and predicting the perceived whiteness of plain paper from the paper composition, including fluorescent whitening agents. This involves psychophysical modelling of perceived whiteness from measurable light reflectance properties, and physical modelling of light scattering and fluorescence from the paper composition. 2. Landscapes of Technology Transfer : Swedish Ironmakers in India 1860–1864
Sammanfattning : In the early 1860s three Swedes, Nils Wilhelm Mitander,Julius Ramsay and Gustaf Wittenström, were engaged by theBritish to build and run charcoal-based ironworks in India. These works, the Burwai Iron Works of the British Government inthe case of Mitander and the privately owned Kumaon Iron Worksin the case of Ramsay and Wittenström, were both to bebased on the most modern European technology. 3. Technology Transfer within Related Offset Business : From an Aircraft Production Perspective
Sammanfattning : The aircraft industry is viewed as a prestigious industry by many countries. Emerging economies regard the establishment of aircraft production capabilities as contributing to their competitiveness and technological development. Therefore, in the defence aircraft industry, politics play a key role in competitiveness. LÄS MER
4. Enhancing Salient Features in Volumetric Data Using Illumination and Transfer Functions
Sammanfattning : The visualization of volume data is a fundamental component in the medical domain. Volume data is used in the clinical work-flow to diagnose patients and is therefore of uttermost importance. LÄS MER
5. Integration of Surface Acoustic Wave and Microfluidic Technologies for Liquid-Phase Sensing Applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis discusses a new concept for construction of a novel SAW in-liquid sensor employing surface acoustic wave resonance (SAR) in a one-port configuration. In this concept, the reflective gratings of a one-port SAW resonator are employed as mass loading-sensing elements, while the SAW transducer is protected from the measurement environment, reducing power losses significantly.
