1. Thermally cured coil-coatings utilizing novel resins and fatty acid methyl esters as reactive diluents
Sammanfattning : Solvent-borne thermally cured coil-coating resins contain large amounts of volatile organic solvents in order to obtain suitable flow for film application. This work describes how the expensive and environmental hazardous volatile organic solvent content of a solvent-borne thermally cured polyester/melamine coil-coating system can be reduced by introduction of fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) as reactive diluents and modification of the polyester binder resin. 2. Fatty acid methyl esters as reactive diluents in solvent-borne thermally cured coil-coatings
Sammanfattning : This work describes how a fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) derived from a vegetable oil can be introduced as reactive diluent in a solvent-borne thermally cured coil-coating system. The evaluated reactive diluent, rape seed methyl ester (RME), has been evaluated both in a fully formulated clear coat system and via model studies. LÄS MER
3. Quantum Chemical Modeling of Phosphoesterase Mimics and Chemistry in Confined Spaces
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, density functional theory is employed in the study of two kinds of systems that can be considered to be biomimetic in their own ways. First, three binuclear metal complexes, synthesized by the group of Prof. Ebbe Nordlander, have been investigated. LÄS MER
4. Lipase-catalyzed production of structured triacylglycerols
Sammanfattning : Vegetable oils and fats are major energy sources but also play an essential part in the physical and chemical properties of food products. The current change in the climate is affecting harvest yields, leading to a shortage and increased prices of raw materials that are difficult to replace. LÄS MER
5. Dynamic Covalent Resolution: Applications in System Screening and Asymmetric Synthesis
Sammanfattning : Combined thermodynamic/kinetic events amount to a kinetically controlled Dynamic Combinatorial Resolution (DCR) process, where the lability of themolecules/aggregates are used to generate dynamics, and the species experiencing the lowest activation energy is selected via kinetic process. Bothinter- and intramolecular processes can be performed using this concept, resulting in complete resolution and associated amplification of the selected species. LÄS MER
