11. Studies on the Polymorphism and Transcriptional Regulation of the ABO and P1PK Histo-blood Group Genes
Sammanfattning : Antigens of the clinically important ABO and P1PK blood group systems are carbohydrate structures. Thus the underlying genes do not encode antigens directly but glycosyltransferases that add specific sugar molecules to selected precursor chains. LÄS MER
12. Biomolecular Analysis by Dual-Tag Microarrays and Single Molecule Amplification
Sammanfattning : Padlock probes and proximity ligation are two powerful molecular tools for detection of nucleic acids and proteins, respectively. Both methods result in the formation of DNA reporter molecules upon recognition of specific target molecules. LÄS MER
13. Expression of stimulatory and inhibitory molecules in interactions between natural killer cells neurons
Sammanfattning : Natural killer (NK) cells are important effector cells of the innate and the early induced immune defense. In the nervous system they appear early during inflammation and have been ascribed a role in clearance of certain viral infections from the brain. NK cells are regulated by multiple signals transmitted via inhibitory and stimulatory receptors. LÄS MER
14. Defence related molecular signalling in Potato : new perspectives from “- Omics”
Sammanfattning : Potato production is hampered by several pathogens and is subjected to intense chemical based disease control, use of which also has undesirable consequences. Resistance breeding programs have also shown limited success. Hence, there is a need to develop durable disease resistance. LÄS MER
15. Characterisation of some iron proteins in Drosophilia melanogaster and Pacifastacus leniusculus
Sammanfattning : The cDNA cloning of the 76-kDa protein, an immune protein from crayfishhaemocytes, shows that it is similar to a family of haem-containing peroxidases. In addition to its cell adhesion activity it has also peroxidase activity, and theprotein was named peroxinectin. The cell adhesion is probably mediated by aKGD-motif present in peroxinectin. LÄS MER
