  1. 1. Diabetes mellitus and risk of prostate cancer - A focus on shared risk factors and survivor bias

    Författare :Isabel Drake; Nutritionsepidemiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; carbohydrates; cohort; competing risk; diabetes mellitus; diet; epidemiology; fiber; gene; gene-environment; lifestyle; prostate cancer; survivor bias; transcription factor 7-like 2; whole-grain; alkylresorcinol metabolites;

    Sammanfattning : Prostate cancer (PCa) is a heterogenous disease including very aggressive lethal tumors to incidentally discovered clinically insignificant tumors. Age, ethnicity, and family history are the only established risk factors. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Epigenetic Mapping in Type 2 Diabetes. Glucose-triggered histone modifications in various tissues

    Författare :Bompada Pradeep; diabetes och endokrinologi Genomik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 2 diabetes; epigenetics; histone modifications; genome editing; ChIP-seq; RNA-seq; pancreatic islets; diabetic kidney disease; peripheral blood mononuclear cells; atherosclerosis;

    Sammanfattning : Epigenetic modifications triggered by high glucose may predispose to diabetes risk by regulating gene expression activity. A growing body of evidence suggests that histone modification which is an essential component of epigenetic mechanism may play an important role in the development of type 2 diabetes (T2D) and its complications. 3. 3. The genetic background of gestational diabetes mellitus

    Författare :Anastasia Papadopoulou; Celiaki och diabetes; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Gestational diabetes mellitus; HLA; TCF7L2; PTPN22; Post partum diabetes; Type 1 Diabetes; Type 2 Diabetes; Islet Cell Autoantibodies;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of this work is to better determine the genetic background of gestational diabetes (GDM) and to examine how specific genes affect the development of diabetes post partum. In the DiPiS (Diabetes Prediction in Skåne) study we typed for HLA-DQB1 alleled, the transcription factor 7-like 2(TCF7L2) rs7903146, rs12255372 and rs7901695 SNPs, the 1858 C>T SNP of the protein tyrosine phosphatase non-receptor 22 (PTPN22) gene and we tested for the presence of islet cell autoantibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 (GAD65), insulinoma-associated antigen 2 (IA-2) and insulin in women who had been diagnosed with GDM at least once during 2000-2004.
