1. Improving Performance in Heterogeneous Networks: A Transport Layer Centered Approach
Sammanfattning : The evolution of computer communications and the Internet has led to the emergence of a large number of communication technologies with widely different capabilities and characteristics. While this multitude of technologies provides a wide array of possibilities it also creates a complex and heterogeneous environment for higher-layer communication protocols. LÄS MER
2. Machine Learning Concepts for Service Data Interoperability
Sammanfattning : Industrial automation is transforming by ongoing digitalization efforts to create a flexible industrial internet of things, turning manufacturing facilities into large-scale systems of cyber-physical systems. This development requires addressing the challenging issue of making heterogeneous systems, data models, and standards interoperable, a core problem in designing sustainable service-oriented automation frameworks. 3. On distributed real-time systems : the mStar environment, net-based learning and context-aware applications
Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis presents two frameworks for distributed real-time systems, the mStar environment for Computer Supported Collaborative Work (CSCW) and the Alipes architecture for context-aware applications, from the perspective of distributed teamwork and net-based learning. The mStar environment was designed to be symmetric and fully distributed, which allows all users equal access and thus full interactivity, as well as scalable through the use of IP multicast and a server-less design. 4. Towards Optimal Quality of Experience via Scalable Video Coding
Sammanfattning : To provide universal multimedia experience, multimedia streaming services need to transparently handle the variation and heterogeneity in operating environment. From the standpoint of streaming application, video adaptation techniques are intended to cope with the environmental variations by utilizing manipulations of the video content itself. LÄS MER
