  1. 1. Modulation of the Progenitor Cell and Homeostatic Capacities of Müller Glia Cells in Retina : Focus on α2-Adrenergic and Endothelin Receptor Signaling Systems

    Författare :Mohammad Harun-Or-Rashid; Finn Hallböök; Per Ekström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Alpha2-adrenergic receptor; Brimonidine; Brn3a; Dedifferentiation; Endothelin; EGFR; ERK1 2; Neuroprotection; NMDA; MIO-M1 human Müller cell; Müller cells; Retina; Retinal ganglion cells; Src-kinase; Transactivation.; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Müller cells are major glial cells in the retina and have a broad range of functions that are vital for the retinal neurons. During retinal injury gliotic response either leads to Müller cell dedifferentiation and formation of a retinal progenitor or to maintenance of mature Müller cell functions. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Tissue Factor Biological Functions : Coagulation Activity in Microparticles and Signaling with Focus On Migration and Apoptosis

    Författare :Mikael Åberg; Agneta Siegbahn; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Teet Velling; Björn Dahlbäck; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tissue factor; Apoptosis; Migration; Chemotaxis; Simvastatin; Platelet Derived Growth Factor; Cell Signaling; Microparticles; Prostasomes; Trombosis; Coagulation; Prostate Cancer; Breast Cancer; Caspase-3; Caspase-8; NFkappaB; PAR2; Transactivation; Monocytes; Clinical chemistry; Klinisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Tissue factor (TF) is a 47 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein known as the main initiator of blood coagulation. TF is over-expressed on many malignant cells and apart from increasing the risk of thrombosis, the presence of TF/FVIIa also promotes the progression of cancer and metastasis by intracellular signaling. 3. 3. Transcriptional regulation of the Epstein-Barr virus latent membrane protein 1 gene in B cells

    Författare :Weiwen Yang; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Epstein-Barr virus; B-cell; transformation; LMP1; LRS; EBNA2; transcription; transactivation; repression; histone deacytylation;

    Sammanfattning : Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) is a ubiquitous human B-lymphotrobic herpesvirus that latently infects over 90 percent of the world´s population. EBV infection is usually benign in healthy people. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Free Fatty Acid Receptor 2 - A G protein coupled receptor with unique signaling properties in neutrophils

    Författare :Simon Lind; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neutrophils; G protein coupled receptors; Free Fatty Acid Receptor 2; GPR43; Allosteric modulation; Transactivation; Cross-talk; Biased signalling; Functional selectivity;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the PhD thesis was to determine the role of neutrophil pattern recognition receptors in the initiation and resolution of inflammatory processes. Neutrophil pattern recognition receptors such as the formyl peptide receptors (FPRs) and the short free fatty acid receptors (FFARs) belong to the family of G protein coupled receptors (GPCR). 5. 5. THE ANDROGEN RECEPTOR GGN POLYMORPHISM. Genetic and functional analyses

    Författare :Kristina Lundin; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Functional domain; Genetic predisposition; Reproductive function; Sex hormone; Transactivation function; Repeat; Polymorphism; Androgen receptor; Transcription factor; Medicin människa och djur ; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi;

    Sammanfattning : Male sex development and reproductive function is regulated by androgens acting via the androgen receptor (AR). The AR harbours two polymorphic repeats of CAG and GGN triplets, encoding glutamines and glycines, respectively. LÄS MER
