  1. 1. Biomechanical and neural aspects of eccentric and concentric muscle performance in stroke subjects : Implications for resistance training

    Författare :Mattias Hedlund; Britta Lindström; Peter Sojka; Ronnie Lundström; Carl-Johan Olsson; Jan Lexell; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; fMRI; Isokinetic; Motor imagery; Muscular strength; Resistance training; Neurological rehabilitation;

    Sammanfattning : Muscle weakness is one of the major causes of post-stroke disability. Stroke rehabilitation programs now often incorporate the same type of resistance training that is used for healthy subjects; however, the training effects induced from these training strategies are often limited for stroke patients. 2. 2. Community-based osteoporosis prevention: Physical activity in relation to bone density, fall prevention, and the effect of training programmes : The Vadstena Osteoporosis Prevention Project

    Författare :Ann-Charlotte Grahn Kronhed; Margareta Möller; Toomas Timpka; Leif Svanström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Vadstena Osteoporosis Prevention Project VOPP ; weight-bearing training study; physical activity; training programmes; elderly; forearm bone mineral density BMD ; balance-training; Orthopaedics; Ortopedi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on studies of the ten-year community-based intervention programme entitled, the Vadstena Osteoporosis Prevention Project (VOPP). The specific aims of the research were to describe the effects of physical activity and training programmes on bone mass and balance performance in adults, to determine whether a fall risk prevention programme could motivate personal actions among the elderly, to ascertain whether the intervention programme could reduce the incidence of forearm and hip fractures. 3. 3. Ocular accomodation. Studies of amplitude, insufficiency, and facility training in young school children

    Författare :Bertil Sterner; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Accommodation; amplitude; children; dysfunction; facility; flip lens; insufficiency; ocular; sham treatment; subjective; training.;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: The purpose of this thesis was to establish the sufficiency of the ocular accommodation and to characterize accommodative problems and related symptoms among otherwise healthy young school children. The purpose was also to evaluate an accommodative facility training technique by studying the effect of the training on relative accommodation. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The physiological impact of soccer on elite female players and the effects of active recovery training

    Författare :Helena M. Andersson; Fawzi Kadi; Carl Johan Sundberg; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Football; Training; Recovery; Intermittent exercise; Sports; Idrott; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN; Fysiologi; Physiology; Idrottsvetenskap; Sports Science;

    Sammanfattning : Female soccer is becoming more popular and professional in the world. There are, however, limited scientific data available on how elite female players respond to physical stress during soccer games. An effective recovery strategy following a game is important, because there are few recovery days between the games in international tournaments. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Validating User Engagement and Effectiveness of Training Simulations : A mixed-methods approach informed by embodied cognition and psychophysiological measures
