6. On Robust Distributed Control of Transportation Networks
Sammanfattning : With the ever-growing traffic demands, the transportation networks are getting more and more congested. While expanding these networks with more roads is both costly and in many cities not even feasible, the rapid development of new sensing and communication techniques has made it possible to perform control of transportation networks in real-time. 7. Evaluation of bus priority strategiesin coordinated traffic signal systems
Sammanfattning : Increasing congestion and environmental concerns have evoked an interest in promoting urban Public Transport (PT) the last decades. In 2012 the City of Stockholm adopted an “Urban mobility strategy” stating that public transport, cycling and walking should be prioritised over cars in central Stockholm. LÄS MER
8. Fuel-Efficient Look-Ahead Control for Heavy-Duty Vehicles with Varying Velocity Demands
Sammanfattning : The fuel consumption of heavy-duty vehicles can be reduced by using information about the upcoming road section when controlling the vehicles. Most manufacturers of heavy-duty vehicles today offer such look-ahead controllers for highway driving, where the information consists of the road grade and the velocity only has small variations. 9. Optimal Control of Electric Bus Lines
Sammanfattning : Bus lines are inherently unstable systems, where any delay tends to be further amplified by the accrued passenger loads encountered at stops downstream. This self-reinforcing mechanism, when combined with the multiple sources of disturbances of an urban environment, can lead to the problem of bus bunching. LÄS MER
10. Iterative Road Grade Estimation for Heavy Duty Vehicle Control
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a new method for iterative road grade estimation based on sensors that are commonplace in modern heavy duty vehicles. Estimates from multiple passes of the same road segment are merged together to form a road grade map, that is improved each time the vehicle revisits an already traveled route. LÄS MER
