21. Search for beyond Standard Model physics with same-sign dileptons
Sammanfattning : An introduction into the theory and experimental background of particle physics and the ATLAS detector is given. The transition radiation tracker (TRT) which is vital to the particle tracking and identification is then described giving particular creedence to the calibration. The automation of this calibration is explained. LÄS MER
22. Multi-scale feature tracking and motion estimation
Sammanfattning : This thesis studies the problems of feature tracking and motion estimation and presents an application of these concepts to human-computer interaction. The presentation is divided into three parts. The first part addresses feature tracking in a multi-scale context. LÄS MER
23. Signal Characterization of Atrial Arrhythmias using the Surface ECG
Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis is comprised of five parts which deal with different signal processing problems in ECG-based characterization of atrial arrhythmias. Such characterization requires that the ventricular activity has first been cancelled in the ECG. LÄS MER
24. Studies of the electronic noise of the Tile Calorimeter and the development of a material map for searches for exotic long-lived particles which decay
Sammanfattning : This thesis contains two major topics related to the ATLAS experiment: the calibration of electronic noise in the tile calorimeter and the development of a detailed map of the material in the inner tracker used in searches for long-lived particles. The noise in TileCal is shown to be consistent with the expectations based on heat and radiation. 25. Robotic Work-Space Sensing and Control
Sammanfattning : Industrial robots are traditionally programmed using only the internal joint position sensors, in a sense leaving the robot blind and numb. Using external sensors, such as cameras and force sensors, allows the robot to detect the existence and position of objects in an unstructured environment, and to handle contact situations not possible using only position control.
