  1. 1. Assessment of Graft Effects and Function in Cell Replacement Therapy for Parkinson's Disease

    Författare :Peter Hagell; Äldres hälsa och personcentrerad vård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; neuropsychology; Neurology; measurement; psychometrics; perceived health; dyskinesias; assessment; striatum; positron emission tomography; dopamine; Parkinson s disease; transplantation;

    Sammanfattning : This explorative study aimed to apply, develop, and evaluate assessment methods at various levels in cell replacement therapy for Parkinson’s disease (PD). Observed motor effects in five grafted patients support that timed motor tasks and clinical ratings of parkinsonism are able to monitor motor function, but their psychometric properties need further attention. 2. 2. Neurocognitive function following out-of-hospital cardiac arrest

    Författare :Erik Blennow Nordström; Lund Neurologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy; heart arrest; cognitive impairment; outcome;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The brain is susceptible to hypoxic-ischemic brain injury in conjuction with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). Cognitive impairments are documented in about half of all OHCA survivors, however with a pronounced heterogeneity in measurements and findings. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Posture and brain function in dementia. A study with special reference to orthostatic hypotension

    Författare :Ulla Passant; Sektion IV; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; falls and fractures.; white matter disease; hypoperfusion; frontal lobes; regional cerebral blood flow; blood pressure; orthostatic hypotension; Organic dementia; normal subjects; Psychiatry; clinical psychology; psychosomatics; Psykiatri; klinisk psykologi; psykosomatik;

    Sammanfattning : Orthostatic hypotension (OH) is believed to be an important cause of cerebral hypoperfusion, leading to chronic fatigue, blurred vision, unsteadiness, dizziness and sometimes syncope. It may also result in episodes of confusion, falls and fractures. The coupling between OH and organic dementia is not clear. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Aims: The aim of this thesis was to investigate how the impact of Parkinson’s disease, a chronic neurodegenerative disorder, influences the person’s health-related quality of life. The aim was also to investigate nursing assessment and management of Parkinson’s in elderly persons. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Cobalamin/folate status and its relation to cognition and behaviour in psychogeriatric patients

    Författare :Karin Nilsson; Lund Psykiatri; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; klinisk psykologi; Psykiatri; psychosomatics; clinical psychology; Psychiatry; folate; Cobalamin; homocysteine; methylmalonic acid; dementia; psychogeriatric patients; delirium; psykosomatik;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic potentials of four different biochemical markers, serum cobalamin, blood folate, plasma homocysteine and serum methylmalonic acid for diagnosis of cobalamin/folate deficiency in a psychogeriatric population. The second aim was to investigate the relationship between these markers and various clinical and functional parameters of the nervous system in patients with dementia disorders. LÄS MER
