  1. 1. On New Implants - The results of five prospective, randomized RSA trials with aspects on phased introduction and continuous migration

    Författare :Mats Molt; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; New total knee arthroplasty; TKA; RSA; randomized; prospective; prediction; continuously migrating; safety; stability CR; PS; PF; PA; short stem; tourniquet;

    Sammanfattning : A concern that arises with any change in design or operative technique is whether it affects the long-term implant stability or not. One way to address this is, by measuring early micromotion, to predict the future revision rate. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The impact of tourniquet use in total knee arthroplasty

    Författare :Charlotta Olivecrona; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Use of the tourniquet in extremity surgery is considered to be an important tool because it prevents intraoperative bleeding and thereby improves visualization of the surgical field. However, its use is not without risks, and complications may occur. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Cell activation and nerve regeneration following peripheral nerve injury

    Författare :Annika Widerberg; Malmö Handkirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurology; nerve regeneration; Nerve injury; conditioning lesion; nerve graft; tourniquet compression; vibration; DRG; Schwann cell; p75; CPON; neurofysiologi; neuropsykologi; Neurologi; neurophysiology; neuropsychology;

    Sammanfattning : The effect of short time vibration exposure and tourniquet compression on nerve regeneration in rats was studied with special reference to cell activation. One of the hindlimbs was conditioned by either vibration exposure (5 hours / day - 5 consecutive days) or compression (150-300 mmHg for 30-120 minutes), which was followed by a recovery period of 0-7 days. 4. 4. Somatosensory dysfunctin in fibromyaligia : implications for pathophysiological mechanisms

    Författare :Eva Kosek; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :allodynia; diffuse noxious inhibitory controls DNIC ; fibromyalgia; hyperesthesia; isometric contraction; pain modulation; pain inhibition; pressure algometry; quantitative sensory testing; sensitivity; sensitization; tourniquet test; v;

    Sammanfattning : Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain syndrome characterized by generalized pain, tenderness, disturbed sleep and pronounced fatigue. The pathophysiology is unknown but peripheral mechanisms (i.e., muscle ischemia) as well as central mechanisms (dysfunction in endogenous pain modulation) have been implicated. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Pain influences somatosensory perception : an experimental and clinical study

    Författare :Ann-Sofie Leffler; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Muscle pain; referred pain; hypoaesthesia; allodynia; musculoskeletal; pain; sensory abnormality; quantitative sensory testing; trapezius myalgia; somatosensory perception; perception thresholds; diffuse noxious inhibitory controls DNIC ; central hyperexcitability; tourniquet test; cold-pressor test.;

    Sammanfattning : The underlying mechanisms maintaining long-term pain localised to musculoskeletal structures and joints are not infrequently unknown. In routine clinical work with such patients insufficient attention has been paid to phenomena indicating altered excitability of the central nervous system (CNS). LÄS MER
