11. Synthesis Towards Biologically Active Natural Products
Sammanfattning : In 2005 two research groups independently reported the isolation of a series of structurally intriguing C-19 terpenolides from the plants Thapsia transtagana and Thapsia garganica. The compounds were shown to be potent inhibitors of the sarco/endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+-ATPases. LÄS MER
12. New Methodologies in Organic Chemistry: Applications to the Synthesis of α-Amino Acids and Natural Products
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the development and application of new synthetic methodology in organic chemistry. The first part describes the development of a new protocol for the synthesis of 3-pyrrolines by means of a microwave-assisted ring-expansion reaction of 2-vinylaziridines. LÄS MER
13. Synthesis of bioactive natural products and analogues
Sammanfattning : Natural products have until recently provided the only remedy for treatment of diseases. The development of modern chemistry in the last centuries has opened the door for tapping into the chemical diversity found in nature. Synthetic natural products, together with analogues, are an important piece in the puzzle towards curing many ailments. LÄS MER
14. Homochiral crystals for selective synthesis
Sammanfattning : Six new coordination compounds were prepared from monodentate sulfide ligands and copper(I) halides and their crystal structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The aim was to prepare coordination polymers that crystallize as conglomerates in order to use them in total spontaneous resolution. LÄS MER
15. Transition metal oxofluorides comprising lone pair elements : Synthesis and Characterization
Sammanfattning : Within the family of transition metal oxochlorides/bromides containing lone pair elements, the transition metal cations often adopt a low-dimensional arrangement such as 2D layers, 1D chains or 0D clusters. The reduced dimensionality is attributed to the presence of stereochemically active lone pairs which are positioned in the non-bonding orbital and will not participate in bond formation and instead act as structural spacers that help to separate coordination polyhedra around transition metal cations from forming three dimensional networks.
