  1. 1. Evaluation of Dust Suppressants for Gravel Roads : Methods Development and Efficiency Studies

    Författare :Karin Edvardsson; Björn Birgisson; Andrew Dawson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Gravel road; dust; particulate matter; PM10; horizontal dust diffusion; deteriorations; maintenance; dust control; dust suppressants; efficiency; application rate; leaching; residual concentration; seasonal variations; salt solution; solid salt; calcium chloride; magnesium chloride; lignosulphonate; polysaccharide sugar ; bitumen emulsion; rape oil; starch; surfactant; mesa; clay; fine material content;

    Sammanfattning : Approximately 75 percent (300 000 km) of the total Swedish road network and 20 percent(20 000 km) of the national road network consists of gravel roads. One of the most significantproblems associated with gravel roads is traffic-generated dust emission, which contributes tothe deterioration of the road surface and acts as a major source of particulate matter releasedinto the atmosphere, thereby involving public economics, road safety, human health, andenvironmental quality. 2. 2. Cooperative Communications : Link Reliability and Power Efficiency

    Författare :Tafzeel ur Rehman Ahsin; Ben Slimane; Xavier Lagrange; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cooperative Communications; Link Reliability; Power Efficiency; Energy Efficiency; Network Coding; Cooperative Relaying; SRA - ICT; SRA - Informations- och kommunikationsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Demand for high data rates is increasing rapidly for the future wireless generations, due to the requirement ofubiquitous coverage for wireless broadband services. More base stations are needed to deliver these services, in order tocope with the increased capacity demand and inherent unreliable nature of wireless medium. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Energy efficiency in heritage buildings : Conservation approaches and their impact on energy efficiency measures

    Författare :Tomas Örn; Agatino Rizzo; Sofia Lidelöw; Andrea Luciani; Elena Lucchi; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy efficiency heritage buildings; Arkitektur; Architecture;

    Sammanfattning : The impeding climate change challenge urges for a reduction of energy use in the built environment. Buildings account for nearly 40% of the total energy use and about 35% of the greenhouse gas emissions in Europe. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Heat Transfer and Energy Efficiency in Infrared Paper Dryers

    Författare :Magnus Pettersson; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; experimental; modelling; electricity; gas; efficiency; energy; drying; dryer; heat transfer; radiation; paper; infrared; IR; coating; Chemical technology and engineering; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi;

    Sammanfattning : Infrared (IR) dryers are widely used in the paper industry, mainly in the production of coated paper grades. The thesis deals with various aspects of heat transfer and energy use in infrared heaters and dryers as employed in the paper industry. Both gas-fired and electric IR dryers are considered and compared. LÄS MER

  5. 5. MATERIAL EFFICIENCY MANAGEMENT IN MANUFACTURING

    Författare :Sasha Shahbazi; Magnus Wiktorsson; Marcus Bjelkemyr; Christina Jönsson; Thomas Lindhqvist; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Material efficiency; industrial waste management; manufacturing; Innovation and Design; innovation och design;

    Sammanfattning : Material efficiency is a key solution to provide a reduction in the total environmental impact of global manufacturing, which contributes to avoid generating larger volumes of industrial waste, to reduce extracting and consuming ever more resources and to decrease energy demand and carbon emissions. However, the area of material efficiency in manufacturing has been under-researched and related knowledge is limited. LÄS MER
