6. Morphological antipredator adaptations in water fleas
Sammanfattning : Some Bosmina and Daphnia species have the ability to develop extreme morphological antipredator defences, such as long antennules, high carapaces and helmets. The relative sizes of these plastic traits may differ substantially between populations, and also between individuals within a population, between sexes and during ontogeny. LÄS MER
7. Towards sustainable solid waste management in Jordan
Sammanfattning : Jordan is a country with a growing population that is undergoing rapid modernization. The increased volume of solid waste and associated logistical difficulties, the steady growth in the cost of waste management and the risk to human health are sources of concern. LÄS MER
8. Clinical pharmacokinetics of intravenous ethanol : relationship between the ethanol space and total body water
Sammanfattning : Introduction: Total body water (TBW) is an important parameter in pathological states where the normal regulation of fluid balance is impaired (e.g., during critical illness, congestive heart failure, bum injury and renal insufficiency). LÄS MER
9. Dispersal and environmental impact of contaminants in organic rich, fibrous sediments of industrial origin in the Baltic Sea
Sammanfattning : The health of the Baltic Sea is negatively affected by hazardous substances such as metals and persistent organic pollutants (POPs), which include legacy pollutants that were banned decades ago, but still circulate in the ecosystem. Elevated levels of legacy pollutants, identified by HELCOM as key hazardous substances, have been found in accumulations of fibrous sediments, so-called fiberbanks and fiber-rich sediments, which derive from old pulp mills along the Swedish north coast. 10. Prediction Models and Pharmacogenomics in Adult Growth Hormone Deficiency
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to study clinical and genetic factors that influence response to growth hormone replacement therapy (GHRT) in GH deficient (GHD) adults. The patients were part of a cohort of adults with hypopituitarism and severe GHD who were studied before and after 12 months of GHRT. LÄS MER
