1. Window-based congestion control : Modeling, analysis and design
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a model for the ACK-clock inner loop, common to virtually all Internet congestion control protocols, and analyzes the stability properties of this inner loop, as well as the stability and fairness properties of several window update mechanisms built on top of the ACK-clock. Aided by the model for the inner-loop, two new congestion control mechanisms are constructed, for wired and wireless networks. LÄS MER
2. Relative Information Based Distributed Control for Intrinsic Formations of Reduced Attitudes
Sammanfattning : This dissertation concerns the formation problems for multiple reduced attitudes, which are extensively utilized in many pointing applications and under-actuated scenarios for attitude maneuvers. In contrast to most existing methodologies on formation control, the proposed method does not need to contain any formation errors in the protocol. LÄS MER
3. Fundamental Control Performance Limitations for Interarea Oscillation Damping and Frequency Stability
Sammanfattning : With the transition towards renewable energy and the deregulation of the electricity markets, the power system is changing. Growing electricity demand and more intermittent power production increase the need for transfer capacity. Lower inertia levels due to a higher share of renewables increase the need for fast frequency reserves (FFR). LÄS MER
4. Agile, Resilient and Cost-efficient Mobile Backhaul Networks : Fundamentals of Network Design and Adaptation
Sammanfattning : The exponentially increasing traffic demand for mobile services requires innovative solutions in both access and backhaul segments of 5th generation (5G) mobile networks. Whilst substantial research efforts address the access segment, the backhaul part has received less attention and still falls short in meeting the stringent requirements of 5G in terms of capacity and availability. 5. Computational analysis and design optimization for acoustic devices
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on material distribution topology optimization for acoustic waveguides. The limitations of the material distribution approach are discussed in the context of acoustic waveguides with extensive viscous and thermal boundary losses. LÄS MER
