  1. 16. Excavating the Digital Landscape : GIS analyses of social relations in central Sweden in the 1st millennium AD

    Författare :Daniel Löwenborg; Paul Sinclair; Julian D. Richards; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; landscape archaeology; GIS; Iron Age; Västmanland; burial grounds; Vendel Period; Viking Age; territorial organisation; watersheds; statistical analysis; chronology; discriminant analysis; GWR; spatial analysis; perception; topography; AD 536; Fimbulvinter; property rights; crisis; historical ecology.; Archaeology; Arkeologi; Archaeology; Arkeologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a number of GIS based landscape analyses that together aim to explore aspects of the social development in Iron Age Västmanland, central Sweden. From a perspective where nature and culture are seen as integrated in the landscape, differences in the relations to the physical landscape are interpreted as reflecting social organisation. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Structural Aspects of Peroxide Crosslinking of Polyethylene

    Författare :Annika Smedberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; poly ethylene-co-divinylsiloxane ; network; poly ethylene-co-1; peroxide; crosslinking; LDPE; topography; 9-decadiene ; entanglements;

    Sammanfattning : Despite major developments in the ways of polymerising ethylene (the processes as well as the catalysts) the use of polyethylene is still restricted in several applications due to its low melting point. This shortcoming can in some areas be overcome by the introduction of crosslinks between the polymer chains. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Microsystems Technology for Underwater Vehicle Applications

    Författare :Jonas Jonsson; Greger Thornell; Hugo Nguyen; Johan Köhler; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Aquatic; Submersible; Underwater; Micro; Miniaturized; Sonar; Sidescan; Topography; Laser; Diffractive; Optics; Sampler; Particle; Microorganism; Acoustic; Enriching; Conductivity; Temperature; Depth; CTD; Flow; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrosystemteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis work has been to investigate how miniaturization, such as microsystems technology, can potentially increase the scientific throughput in exploration of hard-to-reach underwater environments, such as the subglacial lakes of Antarctica, or other challenging environments, including cave systems and wrecks. A number of instruments and subsystems applicable to miniature submersibles have been developed and studied, and their potential to provide a high functionality density for size-restricted exploration platforms has been assessed. 4. 19. Dissolution of fluorite type surfaces as analogues of spent nuclear fuel : Production of suitable analogues and study the effect of surface orientation on dissolution

    Författare :Jose Godinho; Sandra Piazolo; Tonci Balic-Zunic; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fluorite; spent nuclear fuel; crystal structure; CeO2; CaF2; crystal orientation; topography; confocal profilometry; Mineralogy; Mineralvetenskap; Geology; geologi;

    Sammanfattning : It is accepted worldwide that the best final solution for spent nuclear fuel is to bury it in deep geological repositories. Despite the physical and chemical barriers that are supposed to isolate the nuclear waste for at least 100.000 years, some uncertainty factors may cause underground water to get in contact with the nuclear waste. 5. 20. The influence of climate on ozone risk for vegetation

    Författare :Jenny Klingberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :local climate; topography; nocturnal temperature inversions; ozone spring peak; passive diffusion sampler; AOT40; stomatal ozone flux; stomatal conductance; phytotoxic ozone dose; EMEP; MATCH; RCA3; climate change;

    Sammanfattning : Ground-level ozone (O3) is a harmful air pollutant causing reduced crop yield and quality, reduced forest growth and negative effects on human health in large parts of the world. O3 is generally seen as a regional scale air pollution problem, but O3 concentration ([O3]) variation on a smaller geographical scale can be considerable. LÄS MER
