  1. 6. Reduction of Audible Noise of a Traction Motor at PWM Operation

    Författare :Hanna Amlinger; Ines Lopez Arteaga; Siv Leth; Wolfgang Kropp; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; electromagnetic noise; pulse width modulation PWM ; switching frequency; traction motor; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Sammanfattning : A dominating source for the radiated acoustic noise from a train at low speeds is the traction motor. This noise originates from electromagnetic forces acting on the structure resulting in vibrations on the surface and thus radiated noise. It is often perceived as annoying due to its tonal nature. 2. 7. Mother tongue - Phonetic Aspects of Infant-Directed Speech

    Författare :Ulla Sundberg; Anne Fernald; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; infant-directed speech; language acquisition; mother-infant interaction; Phonetics; Fonetik; Phonetics; fonetik;

    Sammanfattning : Phonetic aspects of mother-infant interaction are discussed in light of a functionalist Mother-infant phonetic interaction (MIPhI) model. Adults addressing infants typically use a speech style (infant-directed speech, IDS) characterized by, for instance, extensive suprasegmental (prosodic) modulations. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Sparse Modeling Heuristics for Parameter Estimation - Applications in Statistical Signal Processing

    Författare :Stefan Ingi Adalbjörnsson; Matematisk statistik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; parameter estimation; sparse models; convex optimization; fundamental frequency; inharmonicity; audio localization; symbolic periodicity; alternating directions method of multipliers; N-dimensional decaying sinusoids.;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines sparse statistical modeling on a range of applications in audio modeling, audio localizations, DNA sequencing, and spectroscopy. In the examined cases, the resulting estimation problems are computationally cumbersome, both as one often suffers from a lack of model order knowledge for this form of problems, but also due to the high dimensionality of the parameter spaces, which typically also yield optimization problems with numerous local minima. 4. 9. Invoking the modal nymph: The emergence and dissemination of the concept of modality in Swedish folk music

    Författare :Netta Huebscher; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Swedish folk music; Modality; Neo-modality; Modal theory; Scale degree theory; Romanticism; Open concept;

    Sammanfattning : Since the emergence of a concept of folk music, the study and practice of certain Western European musical traditions has been informed by notions of the music’s modality. Specifically, the idea that older or more indigenous layers of traditional repertoires manifest an underlying, pre-tonal structure of their own has been significant in scholarship, musical education, and performance. 5. 10. Group-Sparse Regression : With Applications in Spectral Analysis and Audio Signal Processing

    Författare :Ted Kronvall; Statistical Signal Processing Group; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sparse regression; group-sparsity; statistical modeling; regularization; hyperparameter-selection; spectral analysis; audio signal processing; classification; localization; multi-pitch estimation; chroma; convex optimization; ADMM; cyclic coordinate descent; proximal gradient;

    Sammanfattning : This doctorate thesis focuses on sparse regression, a statistical modeling tool for selecting valuable predictors in underdetermined linear models. By imposing different constraints on the structure of the variable vector in the regression problem, one obtains estimates which have sparse supports, i.e. LÄS MER
