  1. 1. A few aspects of aircraft noise

    Författare :Crispin Dickson; Shafiquzzaman Khan; Mendel Kleiner; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; paired comparison; sorting based paired comparison; sorting algorithms; mergesort; quicksort; aircraft sound synthesis; aircraft noise; sound quality; tonal effects; angle positions; flight conditions; methods of equalization; cognition; Acoustics; Akustik;

    Sammanfattning : A few aspects of aircraft noise were evaluated. These were (i) methods of subjective evaluations, (ii) effects of equalization and (iii) the effects of cognitive aspects.In the first paper, sorting algorithms were used instead of conventional paired comparison method in order to reduce the number of pairs in the evaluation of subjective judgments. 2. 2. The influence of tyre air cavities on vehicle acoustics

    Författare :Èric Torra i Fernàndez; Anders Nilsson; Wim Desmet; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; acoustics; tyre-road noise; tyre; air cavity resonances; interior noise; aluminium foams; Acoustics; Akustik;

    Sammanfattning : The tonal character of the low frequency internal noise in cars is often due to energy transmission through the tyre at the first few eigenfrequencies of the air cavity of the tyre. The first acoustic mode in the air cavity of a typical stationary car tyre is approximately 224 Hz. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Time-domain modelling of curve squeal: a fast model for one- and two-point wheel/rail contact

    Författare :Ivan Zenzerovic; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :two-point contact; non-Hertzian contact; dynamics coupling; rolling contact; tangential point-contact model; Curve squeal; time domain; frictional instability;

    Sammanfattning : Curve squeal is a type of railway noise that may arise when a railway vehicle negotiates a relatively tight curve. A single frequency, corresponding to a wheel mode, dominates the radiated sound, which makes squeal a very tonal noise. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Affect as a Component of Perceived Sound and Vibration Quality in Aircraft

    Författare :Daniel Västfjäll; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :comfort; sound quality; evaluations; affective reactions; preference; interior aircraft sounds; propeller aircraft;

    Sammanfattning : The concept of product sound quality is becoming an integral component of product development and design. The research presented in this thesis test the notion that affective reactions (i.e. positive-negative feelings) are a major determinant of perceived sound quality. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Flow Duct Acoustics : An LES Approach

    Författare :Emma Alenius; Mats Åbom; Laszlo Fuchs; Oliver Paschereit; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aero-acoustics; duct-acoustics; sound generation; acoustic scattering; acoustic-flow interaction; LES; IC-engines; orifice plate; confined jet;

    Sammanfattning : The search for quieter internal combustion engines drives the quest for a better understanding of the acoustic properties of engine duct components. Simulations are an important tool for enhanced understanding; they give insight into the flow-acoustic interaction in components where it is difficult to perform measurements. LÄS MER
