    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to expand the knowledge of decisive factors acting on health behaviour at an intrapersonal and interpersonal level, and to obtain a deeper understanding of smoking behaviour. A university student population (n= 332) was used in order to investigate self-rated health and health habits in relation to different personality traits and motivation for a healthy lifestyle (sub-studies I-II).     Sammanfattning : The overall objectives of this thesis were to study the natural history for Oral Lichen (OLL), Oral Leukoplakia (OL) and Snus Induced Lesions (SIL) and to correlate cancer and mortality among users and non-users of Swedish moist snuff (snus) The population sub-sample comprised a historic cohort of 20,333 individuals, established in 1973-74.
