  1. 6. Mesenchymal stromal cells in lung tissue

    Författare :Sara Rolandsson Enes; Lungbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Mesenchymal stromal cells; lung transplantation; bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome; obliterative bronchiolitis; extracellular matrix;

    Sammanfattning : Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC) are multipotent cells with immunomodulatory and regenerative properties. During recent years, the interest in using MSC for clinical approaches for various diseases have increased. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Epithelial barrier protection : implications for HIV susceptibility

    Författare :Gabriella Edfeldt; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The majority of HIV infections today occur through sexual HIV transmission. The female genital mucosa offers a barrier against incoming pathogens. Although, studies show that the vaginal microbiome, co-current infections and local inflammation, the use of hormonal contraceptives and microbicides, can weaken this protective lining. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Matrix metalloproteinases in Helicobacter inducedgastritis

    Författare :Philip Bergin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Helicobacter pylori; Helicobacter felis; Matrix metalloproteinase; macrophage; ; Gastritis;

    Sammanfattning : Helicobacter pylori infects the stomach and areas of gastric metaplasia in the duodenum. Theinfection leads to peptic ulcers or gastric cancers in 10-20% of infected individuals, while themajority are more or less asymptomatic. However, active chronic gastritis develops in all infectedindividuals, often in association with atrophic gastritis. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Invariant T cell subsets in immune defense of oral mucosa and skin

    Författare :Michał J Sobkowiak; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Innate-like T lymphocytes such as mucosa-associated invariant T (MAIT) cells and invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells recognize antigens presented by MR1 and CD1d molecules, respectively. As MR1 presents microbial riboflavin metabolite antigens, and CD1d presents endogenous or microbial glycolipid antigens, MAIT cells and iNKT cells survey the non-protein fraction of the potential antigenic universe. 5. 10. Isolation Strategies and Proteomic Characterization of Extracellular Vesicles

    Författare :Aleksander Cvjetkovic; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Extracellular vesicles; Exosomes; Colorectal cancer; Proteomics;

    Sammanfattning : “Extracellular vesicles” is the collective term used to describe vesicular entities that are released from cells into the extracellular environment. These vesicles are composed of a delineating lipid membrane and its cargo which can comprise of bioactive molecules such as lipids, RNA, DNA and proteins which can be shuttled between cells and thus function as a means of cell-to-cell communication.
