  1. 21. A Continuum Framework for Modeling the Excitation–Contraction Coupling of Smooth Muscle

    Författare :Babak Sharifimajd; Jonas Stålhand; Anders Klarbring; Markus Böl; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Excitation-contraction coupling of smooth muscle refers to a chain of coupled physiological processes which convert a stimulus to a mechanical response. These processes can be disassociated into ionic transport during cell membrane excitation, activation of myosin light chains, and muscle contraction caused by actin-myosin interaction (filament sliding). 2. 22. Computational Diffusion MRI: Optimal Gradient Encoding Schemes

    Författare :Mohammad Alipoor; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Gradient Encoding Scheme; ADC imaging; Diffusion MRI; D-optimal experiment design; Diffusion Tensor Imaging; Optimal Image acquisition; Second and Fourth Order Tensors.; Diffusion Kurtosis Imaging;

    Sammanfattning : Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (dMRI) is a non-invasivestructural imaging technique that provides information about tissue microstructures.Quantitative measures derived from dMRI reflect pathologicaland developmental changes in living tissues such as human brain. 3. 23. Rib and Thoracic Response in Frontal Car Crashes: A Study Using a Finite Element Human Body Model

    Författare :Manuel Mendoza-Vazquez; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Frontal crash; THUMS; thoracic injury criteria; Finite Element; Human Body Model; rib fracture;

    Sammanfattning : Traditionally, restraint systems have been evaluated with Anthropomorphic Test Devices (ATDs) and the thoracic injury criteria have been based on parameters assessed using ATDs, such as chest compression. ATDs have limitations since they are only a gross representation of the human body. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Traumatic Brain Injuries: Animal Experiments and Numerical Simulations to Support the Development of a Brain Injury Criterion

    Författare :Jacobo Antona; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; traumatic brain injuries; traffic safety; concussions; animal experiments; finite element method;

    Sammanfattning : Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs) account for about half of the 1 300 000 annual traffic related deaths and the 50 000 000 injuries worldwide. The burden of TBI is ethically unacceptable and economically unsustainable. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Through-Drying of Tissue Paper - Experiments and Modelling

    Författare :Henrik Weineisen; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; paper drying; modelling; TAD; through-drying; through-air drying; tissue; paper;

    Sammanfattning : In through-drying of paper, the energy required for drying is supplied by hot air, which is forced through the paper structure. The area for heat and mass transfer is the internal surface area of the paper, which is often many times larger than the external web surface area (xy-plane). LÄS MER
