6. On the relation between psychosocial work environment and musculoskeletal symptoms : a structural equation modeling approach
Sammanfattning : The aim of the present thesis was to investigate the relation between aspects of the psychosocial work environment and musculoskeletal symptoms including the testing of process models of the potential mediating mechanisms of felt stress and perceived fatigue, and the potential moderating mechanism of physical workload. This thesis is based on four empirical studies. LÄS MER
7. Land Use Change in Space and Time : implications for plant species conservation in semi-natural grasslands
Sammanfattning : Land use change has during the last century altered the traditional rural landscape in Sweden, resulting in a major decline in species diversity. Traditional small-scale farming, with a remarkably high small-scale species richness, has changed in favour of rationalized agriculture, and many semi-natural grasslands, i.e. LÄS MER
8. An agent-based approach to supply side modeling of agricultural and power systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the modeling of economic systems in the context of agricultural and power systems, and some aspects of the difference between the standard economics equilibrium approach and the agent-based approach. We model the supply side, where agents make decisions on what to produce or in what to invest. LÄS MER
9. Distribution and persistence of epiphyte metapopulations in dynamic landscapes
Sammanfattning : Habitat loss is a major cause of species extinction. Old trees have declined, and this continues because of poor management. Examples are development of secondary woodland in semi-open grasslands, and lack of natural tree regeneration. We therefore can expect that species associated with old tree are declining. LÄS MER
10. Capturing and explaining the effects of academic research and development - The case of nanotechnology
Sammanfattning : This thesis explores how the effects of academic research and development (R&D) can be captured and explained, and examines how these effects come about in the case of nanotechnology in Sweden. This includes the understanding of what obstructs the effects and how policy can reduce obstacles. The research questions are explored in two papers. LÄS MER
