1. Competence, Styles, and Quality in Everyday Decision Making
Sammanfattning : This thesis had three aims. First, it explored the benefits of expanding the existing cognitively-oriented definition of individual differences in decision-making competence (i.e., measured by performance on traditional decision-making tasks) by including decision-related aspects of social skills and time-approach. 2. Plant community assembly during succession from arable fields to semi-natural grassland
Sammanfattning : Large areas of grazed, species rich semi-natural grassland were lost in Europe during the last two centuries and as a consequence led to decreases in grassland specialist species. Therefore, today the “restoration” of grassland on previously arable fields is recommended for the protection of grassland specialists. LÄS MER
3. Physical process effects on catchment-scale pollutant transport-attenuation, coastal loading and abatement efficiency
Sammanfattning : Pollutants follow various subsurface and surface water pathways from sources within a catchment to its outlet and may cause detrimental effects on downstream water quality and ecosystems. Along their different transport pathways through a catchment, pollutants may be attenuated subject to different physical and biogeochemical processes. LÄS MER
4. A bridge of words : A term list based on the study and classification of compounding operations in Avot Yeshurun's later poetry (1974-1992) concerning the notion of bayit (home/house)
Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to establish, describe and present a term list; based upon word level operations of Avot Yeshurun, as used within the framework of a given literary context (metonymy) and adapted by the poet to a given language environment (poems in New Hebrew).Aided by terminological methods of description, a classification of the poet's working terminology is conducted, based upon linguistic and, thematic categories, composed in the light of concept-oriented literary criticism in Israel, the issue of transnationality and the meta-time approach typical of holocaust literature. 5. Solute transport in the integrated soil-groundwater system
Sammanfattning : A Lagrangian stochastic travel time approach has been usedfor investigating dominant process impacts on (non-reactive andreactive) solute transport in the integrated soil-groundwatersystem. A first step has also been taken to extending thisLagrangian stochastic travel time approach to integrate thesoil-groundwater-stream transport through a catchment. LÄS MER
