  1. 11. The cell cycle of the hyperthermophilic archaeal genus Sulfolobus

    Författare :Karin Hjort; Patrick Dennis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Microbiology; Cell cycle; Sulfolobus; Archaea; Origin; Replication; SIRV2; Mikrobiologi; Microbiology; immunology; infectious diseases; Mikrobiologi; immunologi; infektionssjukdomar; mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Sammanfattning : The third domain of life, Archaea is one of the three main evolutionary lineages together with the Bacteria and the Eukarya domains. The archaea are, despite their prokaryotic cell organisation, more closely related to eukaryotes than to bacteria in terms of the informational pathways (DNA replication, transcription and translation). 2. 12. Negotiated knowledge positions : communication in trauma teams

    Författare :Maria Härgestam; Maritha Jacobsson; Christine Brulin; Magnus Hultin; Eric Carlström; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; communication; discourse psychology; ideological dilemma; interpretative repertoires; leadership; non-verbal communication; position; power; team work; time; trauma team; trauma team training; silence;

    Sammanfattning : Background Within trauma teams, effective communication is necessary to ensure safe and secure care of the patient. Deficiencies in communication are one of the most important factors leading to patient harm. Time is an essential factor for rapid and efficient disposal of trauma teams to increase patients’ survival and prevent morbidity. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Evolution of Flowering Time in the Tetraploid Capsella bursa-pastoris (Brassicaceae)

    Författare :Tanja Slotte; Martin Lascoux; Ulf Lagercrantz; Juliette de Meaux; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Biology; flowering time; homoeolog; hybridization; introgression; microarray; multiple origins; polyploid; QTL; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Although polyploidy is believed to be a major source of evolutionary novelty, few studies have examined the genetic basis of phenotypic variation in wild polyploids. In this thesis I have studied the genetic basis of flowering time variation in the wild tetraploid crucifer Capsella bursa-pastoris, as well as the evolutionary history of this species. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Urban and rural environments from Iron Age to Medieval time in northern Europe : Evidence from fossil insect remains from South-Eastern Sweden and Novgorod, Russia

    Författare :Magnus Hellqvist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Earth sciences; Late Holocene; Iron Age; Medieval time; subfossil insects; Coleoptera; environment; climate; human environment; taphonomy; south-eastern Sweden; Novgorod; Geovetenskap; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; Quarternary Geology; Kvartärgeologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents and discusses results from studies in of subfossil insect remains of natural and cultural origin. Samples were obtained by coring in sediments or by collection during archaeological excavations. The aim was to reconstruct local environment and climate in rural and early urban situations from Iron Age to medieval time. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Features and Origin of Electromagnetic Fields Generated by Lightning Flashes

    Författare :Mohd Muzafar Ismail; Vernon Cooray; Farhad Rachidi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :negative cloud-to-ground lightning flashes; HF and VHF radiation; chaotic pulse trains; lightning initiation; zero-crossing time; electromagnetic fields; Engineering Science with specialization in Atmospheric Discharges; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot atmosfäriska urladdningar;

    Sammanfattning : Negative cloud-to-ground (CG) lightning flashes transport negative charge from cloud to ground. Negative ground flashes typically involve various processes identified as preliminary breakdown, stepped leader, return stroke, dart leader, dart-stepped leader, subsequent return stroke, and cloud activity between strokes, such as regular pulse trains and chaotic pulse trains.
