1. Three Dimensional Determinations of Inclusions in Ferroalloys and Steel Samples
Sammanfattning : As the requirements on material properties increase, there has been a demand on an additional knowledge on the effect of impurities in the ferroalloyson the steel cleanness. Thus, the number, morphology, size and composition of inclusions in sixdifferent ferroalloys (FeTi, FeNb, FeSi,SiMn, LC and HC FeCr) were investigatedin this study. LÄS MER
2. On stability, transition and turbulence in three-dimensional boundary-layer flows
Sammanfattning : A lot has changed since that day on December 17, 1903 when the Wright brothers made the first powered manned flight. Even though the concepts behind flying are unaltered, appearance of stat-of-the-art modern aircrafts has undergone a massive evolution. LÄS MER
3. Three-Dimensional Metal-Semiconductor Heterostructures for Device Applications
Sammanfattning : Fabrication and characterisation of buried metal contacts in compound semiconductors are demonstrated. The contacts have been investigated due to their usage both as gates in transistors and as active or passive elements in novel devices. LÄS MER
4. Spectral-element simulations of turbulent wall-bounded flows including transition and separation
Sammanfattning : The spectral-element method (SEM) is used to study wall-bounded turbulent flowsin moderately complex geometries. The first part of the thesis is devoted to simulations of canonical flow cases, such as temporal K-type transitionand turbulent channel flow, to investigate general resolution requirements and computational efficiency of the numerical code nek5000. 5. Development of Time Resolved Laser Imaging Techniques for Studies of Turbulent Reacting Flows
Sammanfattning : In the present thesis the development and application of a novel laser diagnostic system for high speed spectroscopic imaging of turbulent combustion phenomena is presented. The system is capable of recording sequences of up to 8 images with a separation between consecutive images as short as microseconds. LÄS MER
