16. Fluid Mechanics of Vertical Axis Turbines : Simulations and Model Development
Sammanfattning : Two computationally fast fluid mechanical models for vertical axis turbines are the streamtube and the vortex model. The streamtube model is the fastest, allowing three-dimensional modeling of the turbine, but lacks a proper time-dependent description of the flow through the turbine. LÄS MER
17. Regulation of fibroblast activity by keratinocytes, TGF-β and IL-1α : studies in two- and three dimensional in vitro models
Sammanfattning : Dysregulated wound healing is commonly associated with excessive fibrosis. Connective tissue growth factor (CTGF/CCN2) is characteristically overexpressed in fibrotic diseases and stimulated by transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) in dermal fibroblasts. Reepithelialisation and epidermal wound coverage counteract excessive scar formation. LÄS MER
18. A three dimensional scaffold for single staged tissue engineering
Sammanfattning : Study I. Aims: Evaluate a collagen-PCL scaffold with minced bladder mucosa in vitro. M&M: Minced tissue was cultured on top of the scaffold. Scaffold properties were evaluated. LÄS MER
19. Simulations of the Dynamics of Fibre Suspension Flows
Sammanfattning : A new model for simulating non-Brownian flexible fibres suspended in a Newtonian fluid has been developed. Special attention has been given to include realistic flow conditions found in the industrial papermaking process in the key features of the model; it is the intention of the author to employ the model in simulations of the forming section of the paper machine in future studies. 20. Modelling of melanocortin receptors and their ligands
Sammanfattning : Five subtypes of melanocortin receptors (MC1-MC5R) mediate a wide range of physiological actions, including control of skin tanning, inflammation and food intake. The natural ligands for these receptors are the melanocortins, which are linear peptides 11 to 39 amino acids long. LÄS MER
