  1. 16. Fluid Mechanics of Vertical Axis Turbines : Simulations and Model Development

    Författare :Anders Goude; Olov Ågren; Carlos Simão Ferreira; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Wind power; Marine current power; Vertical axis turbine; Wind farm; Channel flow; Simulations; Vortex model; Streamtube model; Control system; Graphics processing unit; CUDA; Fast multipole method; Engineering Science with specialization in Science of Electricity; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektricitetslära;

    Sammanfattning : Two computationally fast fluid mechanical models for vertical axis turbines are the streamtube and the vortex model. The streamtube model is the fastest, allowing three-dimensional modeling of the turbine, but lacks a proper time-dependent description of the flow through the turbine. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Regulation of fibroblast activity by keratinocytes, TGF-β and IL-1α : studies in two- and three dimensional in vitro models

    Författare :Anita Koskela von Sydow; Mikael Ivarsson; Torbjörn Bengtsson; Hans Törmä; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Fibroblast; Keratinocyte; TGF-β; IL-1α; coculture; fibrosis CTGF CNN 2; dermal; organotypic culture;

    Sammanfattning : Dysregulated wound healing is commonly associated with excessive fibrosis. Connective tissue growth factor (CTGF/CCN2) is characteristically overexpressed in fibrotic diseases and stimulated by transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) in dermal fibroblasts. Reepithelialisation and epidermal wound coverage counteract excessive scar formation. LÄS MER

  3. 18. A three dimensional scaffold for single staged tissue engineering

    Författare :Said Zeiai; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Study I. Aims: Evaluate a collagen-PCL scaffold with minced bladder mucosa in vitro. M&M: Minced tissue was cultured on top of the scaffold. Scaffold properties were evaluated. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Simulations of the Dynamics of Fibre Suspension Flows

    Författare :Stefan B Lindström; Tetsu Uesaka; Myat Htun; Fritz Bark; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fibre; fibre suspension; simulation; paper; papermaking; forming; fibre orientation distribution; fibre flexibility; viscosity; first normal stress difference; fluid flow; simple shear flow; two-way coupling; three-dimensional; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik; Engineering physics; Teknisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : A new model for simulating non-Brownian flexible fibres suspended in a Newtonian fluid has been developed. Special attention has been given to include realistic flow conditions found in the industrial papermaking process in the key features of the model; it is the intention of the author to employ the model in simulations of the forming section of the paper machine in future studies. 5. 20. Modelling of melanocortin receptors and their ligands

    Författare :Peteris Prusis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical biosciences; melanocortin; G-protein coupled receptor; modeling; three-dimensional; QSAR; chemometrics; Farmaceutisk biovetenskap; Biopharmacy; Biofarmaci; farmaceutisk farmakologi; Pharmaceutical Pharmacology;

    Sammanfattning : Five subtypes of melanocortin receptors (MC1-MC5R) mediate a wide range of physiological actions, including control of skin tanning, inflammation and food intake. The natural ligands for these receptors are the melanocortins, which are linear peptides 11 to 39 amino acids long. LÄS MER
