  1. 1. Hybrid Grid Generation for Viscous Flow Computations Around Complex Geometries

    Författare :Lars Tysell; Laszlo Fuchs; Nigel P. Weatherill; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; grid generation; unstructured grids; hybrid grids; surface grids; three-dimensional grids; adaptive grids; moving grids; grid quality; accuracy; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Sammanfattning : A set of algorithms building a program package for the generation of twoandthree-dimensional unstructured/hybrid grids around complex geometrieshas been developed. The unstructured part of the grid generator is based on the advancing frontalgorithm. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Investigating polymorphism in small molecules using three-dimensional electron diffraction

    Författare :Molly Lightowler; Xiaodong Zou; Hosea M. Nelson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; 3D electron diffraction; structure determination; polymorphism; crystallisation; phase identification; small molecule; oorganisk kemi; Inorganic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : For scientific, regulatory and intellectual property reasons, the discovery and characterisation of polymorphic systems is an integral aspect of the development process of any solid-formulated drug product. Yet, these studies are often hindered by crystal quality and size, poor yields and the generation of mixtures of phases. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Receptivity, Stability and Sensitivity analysis of two- and three-dimensional flows

    Författare :Guillaume Chauvat; Ardeshir Hanifi; Dan S. Henningson; Ulrich Rist; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; boundary-layers; stability; receptivity; sensitivity; transition; mode decomposition; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : This work deals with various aspects of boundary-layer stability. Modal and non-modal approaches are first used in the study of the global stability of a jet in crossflow. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Modeling and optimization of least-cost corridors

    Författare :Lindsi Seegmiller; Takeshi Shirabe; Kai-Florian Richter; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; raster data modeling; raster-based geographic information systems; route planning; optimal routing; corridor; wide path; corridor width; distortion; three-dimensional grid; rasterdatamodellering; rasterbaserade geografiska informationssystem; ruttplanering; optimal dirigering; korridor; bred väg; korridorbredd; distorsion; tredimensionellt rutnät; Geoinformatics; Geoinformatik;

    Sammanfattning : Given a grid of cells, each having a value indicating its cost per unit area, a variant of the least-cost path problem is to find a corridor of a specified width connecting two termini such that its cost-weighted area is minimized. A computationally efficient method exists for finding such corridors, but as is the case with conventional raster-based least-cost paths, their incremental orientations are limited to a fixed number of (typically eight orthogonal and diagonal) directions, and therefore, regardless of the grid resolution, they tend to deviate from those conceivable on the Euclidean plane. 5. 5. Kinematics of the heart : strain and strain-rate using time-resolved three-dimensional phase contrast MRI

    Författare :Pernilla Selskog; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : During the cardiac cycle, the myocardium (heart muscle) undergoes large elastic deformations as a consequence of the active muscle contraction along the muscle :fibers and their relaxation, respectively. A four-dimensional (4D) description (three spatial dimensions + time) of the kinematics of the myocardium would bring increased understanding of the mechanical properties of the heart and may be of interest in assessing regional myocardial function.
