16. On Virtual Surgical Planning in Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery
Sammanfattning : The complex three-dimensional (3D) anatomy of the cranio-maxillofacial (CMF) region makes surgery a challenging task. Virtual surgical planning (VSP) has the potential to increase accuracy, reproducibility and shorten operation time. LÄS MER
17. Efficient Structure and Motion: Path Planning, Uncertainty and Sparsity
Sammanfattning : This thesis explores methods for solving the structure-and-motion problem in computer vision, the recovery of three-dimensional data from a series of two-dimensional image projections. The first paper investigates an alternative state space parametrization for use with the Kalman filter approach to simultaneous localization and mapping, and shows it has superior convergence properties compared with the state-of-the-art. 18. Design and characterization of nanoparticles and their assemblies : Transmission electron microscopy investigations from atomic to mesoscopic length scales
Sammanfattning : Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) is a powerful and versatile tool for investigating nanomaterials. In this thesis, various transmission electron microscopy techniques are used to study the chemical and structural features of different types of inorganic nanoparticles of well-defined morphologies as well as their assemblies. 19. Computerized Alignment and Deformation Correction of Microscopic Serial Section Images of Nervous Tissue
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes an investigation into digital techniques for image alignment and deformation correction with special reference to serial light and electron microscopic images. These techniques are applied in three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of nervous tissue, especially the superficial gray matter of the brain - cortex cerebri. LÄS MER
20. Low Rank Matrix Factorization and Relative Pose Problems in Computer Vision
Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on geometric computer vision problems. The first part of the thesis aims at solving one fundamental problem, namely low-rank matrix factorization. We provide several novel insights into the problem. In brief, we characterize, generate, parametrize and solve the minimal problems associated with low-rank matrix factorization. LÄS MER
