  1. 1. Characterization of Fluorescent Dyes for Biochemical Applications. Chemometric Analysis of Spectroscopic Data

    Författare :Jan Nygren; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; principal component analysis; fluorescein; chemometrics; optical spectroscopy; fluorophores; thiazole orange;

    Sammanfattning : Fluorescent dyes are used in a number of different biochemical applications to visualize and probe biomolecules. The aim of this work was to characterize the spectroscopic properties of two such dyes, fluorescein and thiazole orange, and to develop chemometric methods to extract further information from these data. 2. 2. The Light-up Probe

    Författare :Nicke Svanvik; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; asymmetric cyanine dyes; light-up probes; PNA; real-time PCR; LightUp Probe; fluorescent hybridization probes; homogeneous hybridization assays;

    Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis concerns the development of light-up probes and their potential applications in PCR based molecular diagnostics. The light-up probe is a nucleic acid analog (here PNA) oligomer linked to an asymmetric cyanine dye (here thiazole orange) and it combines the excellent hybridization properties of PNA with the large fluorescence enhancement of the dye upon binding to DNA. 3. 3. Pre-PCR Processing Strategies for Quantitative Detection of Food-Borne Pathogens using Real-Time PCR

    Författare :Petra Wolffs; Teknisk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Livsmedelsteknik; Food and drink technology; DNA polymerase; sample treatment; pre-PCR processing; real-time PCR; Food-borne pathogens;

    Sammanfattning : Since the development of real-time PCR, the technology has been widely applied in the field of diagnostics. In comparison with conventional PCR it has opened up the possibility of accurate quantification of microorganisms in clinical, environmental and food samples. LÄS MER
