1. Thermal Modelling of the Caledonian Basin, Scandinavia and a Northern North Sea Profile
Sammanfattning : The reason for the registered high paleotemperatures of the Scandinavian Alum Shale was investigated by heat flow modelling constrained by vitrinite-like reflectance. The behaviour of the lithosphere under a load was modelled and the paleotemperatures were explained by burial of the Alum Shale in a foreland basin, developing during the Caledonian orogeny. LÄS MER
2. Reproductive performance of farmed Arctic charr
Sammanfattning : The production of farmed Arctic charr (Salvelinus alpinus) has increased rapidly over the last decade, and the industry is predicted to continue to grow in the coming years. One major bottleneck for this future expansion concerns the supply of viable eggs and juveniles. LÄS MER
3. Plurifaceted proteomics in studying cellular dynamics and action mechanisms of anticancer drugs
Sammanfattning : Mass spectrometry (MS)-based proteomics has developed tremendously in recent years and was the leading technology for many novel methods to study protein chemistry. Contrary to classical approaches based on Western blot, MS-based approaches are mostly unbiased. LÄS MER
4. Ribosome display for selection and evolution of affibody molecules
Sammanfattning : Affinity proteins are invaluable tools in biotechnological and medical applications. This thesis is about combinatorial protein engineering principles for the generation of novel affinity proteins to purify mouse immunoglobulin, detect a potential cancer marker protein or inhibit a cell proliferation pathway. 5. A mechanistic description of the evolution of aromatic tar during catalytic upgrading of the raw gas produced from biomass steam gasification
Sammanfattning : The removal of tar from the raw gas produced during biomass gasification is a prerequisite for the viability of the process downstream of the gasifier. The tar, the composition of which is dominated by aromatics, readily condenses, leading to process disruption. LÄS MER
