11. The Performance of a Multi Cylinder HCCI Engine using Variable Compression Ratio and Fast Thermal Management
Sammanfattning : The prime mover in the world today is the Internal Combustion (IC) engine. The development and improvement of the internal combustion engines since Nicolaus August Otto and Rudolf Diesel has continued until today and will continue long into the future. No major competitor to the IC engine has yet emerged. LÄS MER
12. CFD modelling of axial fans for thermal management applications
Sammanfattning : Reducing CO2 emissions is one of the key challenges in todays automotive industry. Different strategies to achieve this goal are, for example, to electrify the powertrain and to reduce the aerodynamic drag by reducing the amount of cooling air through the underhood. LÄS MER
13. Solder Matrix Fiber Composite Thermal Interface Materials
Sammanfattning : Overheating has been a problem for microelectronics devices for decades, and the problem is exacerbated by the continued trend of miniaturization of features and the corresponding increase in power density. Thermal interface materials (TIMs) target one of the main bottlenecks in heat transfer: the interface between two materials, such as between a heat-generating microchip and a heatsink. LÄS MER
14. Integrated Communications and Thermal Management Systems for Microsystem-based Spacecraft : A Multifunctional Microsystem Approach
Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the potential of multifunctional silicon-based microsystems for advanced integrated nanospacecraft (AIN). Especially, multifunctional microsystems with the coexistant functions of communications and thermal management implemented in multilayer silicon stacks are approached with systems study. LÄS MER
15. Aspects of neonatal intensive care and anesthesia : Thermal balance and respiratory management
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on four articles originating from three studies conducted in the neonatal intensive care unit and the children’s operating deparment at Uppsala University Hospital, Sweden. The overall aim was to obtain new knowledge about thermal balance and care environment in extremely preterm infants during skin-to-skin care (SSC), evaluate different methods of intraoperative monitoring of carbon dioxide (CO2), and to investigate how different levels of inhaled oxygen affect infants’ oxygenation during anesthesia and surgery.
