1. An Inquiry into Satisfaction and Variations in User-Oriented Elderly Care
Sammanfattning : The foundation for this thesis is an ongoing discussion about quality in Swedish elderly care: Which are the most important factors that contribute to elderly care in terms of satisfaction among older persons, and what are the primary reasons for their differences? 2. Explaining everyday problem solving
Sammanfattning : How well can we explain natural occurrences of cognitive behaviours given the theoretical frameworks available to us today? The thesis explores what has to be assumed in cognitive theory in order to provide such an explanation, in contrast to being able to predict behaviour under controlled circumstances. 3. Choice Blindness: The Incongruence of Intention, Action and Introspection
Sammanfattning : This thesis is an empirical and theoretical exploration of the surprising finding that people often may fail to notice dramatic mismatches between what they want and what they get, a phenomenon my collaborators and I have named choice blindness. 4. Subliminal or not? : An appraisal of semantic processing in the near absence of visual awareness
Sammanfattning : Stimuli that cannot be perceived (i.e., that are subliminal) can still elicit neural responses in an observer, but can such stimuli influence behavior and higher-order cognition? Sammanfattning : Olfactory function is affected by demographic, cognitive, and genetic factors. In the present thesis, three empirical studies investigated individual differences in olfactory ability.
