  1. 1. Everything has its processes, one could say : a longitudinal study following students' ideas about transformations of matter from age 7 to 16

    Författare :Lena Löfgren; Gustav Helldén; Margareta Ekborg; John Leach; Högskolan Kristianstad; []
    Nyckelord :SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; longitudinal study; primary education; secondary education; science learning; transformations of matter; the particulate nature of matter; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; Education; Pedagogik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns students’ learning and meaning-making in science. The theoretical framework builds upon Human Constructivism. This perspective underlines the unique interplay that occurs between thinking, feeling, and acting in human meaning-making and also stresses the important role of language in learning processes. 2. 2. Everything has its processes, one could say - A longitudinal study following students’ ideas about transformations of matter from age 7 to 16

    Författare :Lena Löfgren; Margareta Ekborg; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; longitudinal study; primary education; secondary education; science learning; transformations of matter; the particulate nature of matter; longitudinell studie; grundskola; lärande i naturvetenskap; materietransformationer; materiens partikelnatur; transformations of matter; science learning; secondary education; primary education; longitudinal study; the particulate nature of matter;

    Sammanfattning : Denna avhandling handlar om elevers lärande och meningsskapande i naturvetenskap. Det teoretiska ramverket bygger på Human Constructivism. Detta perspektiv framhåller det unika samspel som äger rum mellan tankar, känslor och handlingar då människor skapar mening. Perspektivet betonar också språkets viktiga roll i lärandeprocesser. 3. 3. Fractionation of the stable silicon isotopes : analytical method developments and selected applications in geochemistry

    Författare :Emma Engström; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Sammanfattning : During the last few decades, variations in the 'natural' isotopic abundances of stable elements (termed 'fractionation') have received considerable interest from the scientific community. Though analytical methods and techniques for the measurement of isotopic abundances with adequate figures of merit have been available for light elements (e.g. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Flocculation of Allochthonous Dissolved Organic Matter – a Significant Pathway of Sedimentation and Carbon Burial in Lakes

    Författare :Eddie von Wachenfeldt; Lars Tranvik; David Bastviken; John Downing; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; flocculation; dissolved organic carbon; allochthonous; carbon sequestration; carbon cycle; boreal lakes; Freshwater ecology; Limnisk ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Inland waters receive substantial amounts of organic carbon from adjacent watersheds. Only about half of the carbon exported from inland waters reaches the oceans, while the remainder is lost en route. This thesis identifies flocculation as an important and significant fate of carbon in the boreal landscape. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Hindered diffusion of nanoparticles

    Författare :Ananda Subramani Kannan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Brownian motion; Hydrodynamic interactions; Multiphase DNS; Mobility; Langevin-immersed boundary method; Colloids; Aerosols; Nanoscale and Rarefied gas.;

    Sammanfattning : Brownian theory provides us with a powerful tool which can be used to delve into a microscopic world of molecules, cells and nanoparticles, that was originally presumed to be beyond our reach. Consequently, modeling the inherent dynamics of a system through a Brownian transport equation is of relevance to several real-word problems that involve nanoparticles including, the transport and mitigation of particulate matter (PM) generated though fossil fuel combustion and nanocarrier mediated drug delivery.
