    Sammanfattning : This dissertation investigates the long historical process leading up to the establishment of Swedish forensic medicine in the middle of the 19th century. Both the development of the practice of investigating suspicious deaths, primarily through autopsies, and the scientific development, leading up to the founding of forensic medicine as a medical discipline and a distinct field of knowledge are dealt with.     Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the increasing medicalization of society, the process whereby social phenomenon are transformed into medical problems. Alike the general tendency of neu- ropsychiatric diagnoses, the number of people with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactiv- ity Disorder) has increased and expanded from a boys’ diagnosis to include both adult men and women.     Sammanfattning : The 1990s were a period of economic crisis and mass unemployment. The dissertation shows that in the labour market policy guidelines in the period 1978–2004, a dichotomy was constructed between, on the one hand, a group of unemployed described in positive terms as potentially able to gain new employment, and, on the other hand, a group – referred to in the dissertation as the Others – whose exclusion and marginalisation were seen as permanent.
