1. Radio resource management for wireless indoor communication systems : performance and implementation aspects
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we investigate several radio resourcemanagement (RRM) techniques and concepts in an indoorenvironment with a dense infrastructure. Future wireless indoorcommunication networks will very likely be implemented atplaces where the user concentration is very high. At these hotspots, the radio resources must be used efficiently. 2. Single-cycle undulator light
Sammanfattning : The past decade has witnessed a sharp rise of interest in coherent terahertz (THz) light sources for applications in condensed-matter physics. These sources are a powerful tool for studying collective excitations in solid-state systems: THz light can directly couple to low-energy excitations on the meV-scale such as the collective excitations of spins and phonons. 3. Emittance and Energy Diagnostics for Electron Beams with Large Momentum Spread
Sammanfattning : Following the discovery of the Higgs-like boson at the Large Hadron Collider, there is demand for precision measurements on recent findings. The Compact Linear Collider, CLIC, is a candidate for a future linear electron-positron collider for such precision measurements. LÄS MER
4. Charge Breeding and Production of Multiply Charged Ions in EBIS and ECRIS
Sammanfattning : The REXEBIS is an Electron Beam Ion Source (EBIS) developed for charge breeding of the exotic and sometimes short-lived isotopes that are produced at ISOLDE for the REX-ISOLDE post accelerator. Bunches of singly charged radioactive ions are injected into the EBIS and charge bred to a charge-to-mass ratio of approximately ¼, and thereafter extracted and injected into a short 3-stage LINAC for acceleration to a few MeV/u. 5. Radio Resource Management in Bunched Personal Communication Systems
Sammanfattning : The traditional way of increasing capacity in a wirelesscommunication system has been cell splitting and fixedchannel-allocation based on prediction tools. However, theplanning complexity increases rapidly with the number of cellsand the method is not suitable for the large temporal andspatial traffic variations expected in the future. LÄS MER
