   Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the thesis was to provide theoretical and empirical knowledge of interactions involved in the encounters between older persons experiencing activity limitations in their home environments and the service organisation related to home modification services, in the context of one Swedish municipality. A transactional perspective was used, meaning that the focus was on driving forces and relationships connecting different aspects and actors involved in older people s encounters with the service organisation related to home modification services.    Sammanfattning : Swedish housing research has disproportionately concentrated on the study of apartment blocks and on how to create functioning neighbourhoods and neighbourliness, as part of a national housing policy that aimed at building apartment blocks for ordinary families. Specific aims were to examine whether the Swedish version of the PGCMAI meets the criteria of reliability and validity when assessing the life situation of Swedish old people with locomotor disability and to explore the pattern of the Swedish version of the instrument in respect of age and gender.
