  1. 11. Picturing the Public : Advertising Self-Regulation in Sweden and the UK

    Författare :Caroline Dahlberg; Göran Ahrne; Laurent Thévenot; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; advertising self-regulation; images; decision-making; reflexive cognition; interpretation; evaluation; justification; worlds of worth; moral conventions; moral conflicts; gender; the public; the unknown other; viewers; offence; Sociology; Sociologi; Sociology; sociologi;

    Sammanfattning : Across the globe, people are everyday audiences of advertising images, which have become integrated in our life worlds. Advertising images are entangled with interesting moral conflicts. LÄS MER

  2. 12. En didaktisk studie av kunskapsinnehåll i biologi på universitetet : Med genbegreppet som exempel

    Författare :Veronica S. Flodin; Per-Olof Wickman; Christina Ottander; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; biology; higher education; tertiary education; didaktik; didactics; discipline-based education research; science education; knowing; gene concept; practice epistemology; Hirst; Wartofsky; naturvetenskapsämnenas didaktik; Science Education;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is about knowing in biology in higher education and research. The gene concept is used as an example of knowledge content that is common to both biological research and education. The purpose is to study how knowing about the gene is expressed in different forms of knowledge contexts at the university. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Adaptive and model-based control in laminar boundary-layer flows

    Författare :Nicolò Fabbiane; Dan S. Henningson; Aimee S. Morgans; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Flow control; Control theory; Optimal control; Adaptive control; Boundary-layer flow; Fluid dynamics; Plasma actuator; Surface hot-wire; Transition delay;

    Sammanfattning : In boundary-layer flows it is possible to reduce the friction drag by breaking the path from laminar to turbulent state. In low turbulence environments, the laminar-to-turbulent transition is dominated by local flow instabilities – Tollmien-Schlichting (TS) waves – that exponentially grows while being con- vected by the flow and, eventually, lead to transition. 4. 14. Modelling and control of turbulent and transitional flows

    Författare :Pierluigi Morra; Dan S. Henningson; Ardeshir Hanifi; André V. G. Cavalieri; Shervin Bagheri; Aimee S. Morgans; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; reduced order modeling; flow control; resolvent analysis; transi- tional boundary layer; turbulent boundary layer; drag reduction; high-fidelity wall-turbulence modelling; modellreduktion; strömningskontroll; resolvent analys; laminär- turbulent omslag; turbulent gränsskikt; motståndsminskning; väggturbulens modellering; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : The dynamics of fluid motion can accurately be described by the Navier– Stokes equations. Manipulating these equations to reduce their complexity but preserving their main characteristics has always been a key research activity in the field of fluid mechanics. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Drivers of carbon sink function in tropical seagrass beds : influence of carbon import, plant composition, seascape configuration and human activities

    Författare :Rashid O. Ismail; Mats Björk; Martin Gullström; Maria E. Asplund; Amelia S. Buriyo; Matern S.P. Mtolera; Teresa Alcoverro; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Carbon sequestration; tropical seagrass meadows; coastal seascape; landscape configuration and transformation; calcification; allochthonous carbon; community respiration; carbon sink; human disturbance; coastal conservation; Plant Physiology; växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Seagrass meadows are effective carbon sinks, sequestering atmospheric CO2 and capturing allochthonous organic material, storing organic carbon (Corg) in their sediments, so called Blue Carbon. In tropical areas, seagrass meadows have a high number of calcareous organisms, which can offset carbon sequestration by releasing CO2 through their calcification. LÄS MER
