  1. 21. Mitochondrial dysfunction and alterations of brain HMPAO SPECT in depressive disorder : perspectives on origins of 'somatization'

    Författare :Ann Gardner; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :99mTc-d; 1-hexamethylpropyleneamine oxime; clinical rating scales; hearing loss; mtDNA; muscle biopsy; PCR; single photon emission computed tomography; tinnitus; unipolar depression.;

  2. 22. Importance of serotonin-related candidate genes for human behaviour

    Författare :Jonas Melke; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; serotonin; genetics; polymorphism; association study; personality; panic disorder; premenstrual dysphoria; serotonin receptor; serotonin transporter;

    Sammanfattning : Family and twin studies have been consistent in demonstrating that genetic factors are involved in the etiology of most major psychiatric disorders, as well as in various normal personality traits. Mostly due to the efficacy of serotonin-acting drugs, such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) and tricyclic antidepressants (TCA), the neurotransmitter serotonin has been implicated in a variety of common psychiatric disorders, including depression, a spectrum of anxiety disorders, and premenstrual dysphoria; moreover, some studies have suggested that also personality is influenced by serotonin. 3. 23. Post-traumatic stress disorder and resilience in children of traumatised parents

    Författare :Atia Taufik Ismail Daud; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []

  4. 24. Anterior cruciate ligament injury : factors affecting selection of treatment and intermediate outcome

    Författare :Linda R Swirtun; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :ACL-reconstruction; functional brace; indications for surgery; non-operative treatment; personality; subsequent injuries;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: The aim of this comprehensive study was to evaluate whether anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injured patients choosing non-operative treatment differ from those choosing ACL reconstruction regarding age, gender, personality, activity level prior to injury, anterior-posterior knee joint laxity and outcome as evaluated using the Knee Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) five weeks following the ACL injury. Furthermore the reasons for choosing reconstruction were studied to determine whether patients who choose reconstructive surgery early do so for the same reasons as patients who choose reconstruction later.     Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: One of the most important but also difficult tasks that a physician is responsible for is to assess the suicide risk of a patient. Understanding the complex role of distal and proximal risk factors and their impact on the prediction of repetition of suicidal behavior is important to consider when assessing the risk of suicide.
